SW Edgecombe had to forfeit its first game of the season due to an ineligible player. SWE defeated Nash Central 13-5 on the field, but it now counts as a 0-1 loss.
SWE is now 1-1.

Very unfortunate. Hate that for the kids who worked hard, and secured the victory against Nash Central

Absolutely terrible for the rpi. It's not like a loss to the Tarboros or even Farmville Centrals of the world. Beating Nash Central doesn't help much, but a loss to them is harsh. They are really bad, and I don't see them picking up many wins to boost their ratings.

Nash Central may not be very good but don't make SWE sound like they are really good. SWE only scored 2 TDS against according to you a bad NC team. Both scores were a long punt return and a long run. Other than that SWE didn't do much. NC lost both their starting and backup QB to ACL injuries and had to finish with a RB taking snaps. SWE should win their fair share of games this season but I think NC will to when they get to their conference schedule.

First game of the season, my guy lol. SWE did not move the ball well during the first half, but moved it at will during the second. After the half, the offense didn't see the ball until 4:30 left in the 3rd, and immediately scored a few plays later. And didn't see the ball much at all in the 4th, but when we did, they clicked. SWE also had another punt return td called back for holding. You said that they had to finish the game with a rb at qb. Was he also under center at the start of the game, because NC didn't go anywhere at any point in the game. NC received the ball on a blocked punt at the SWE 13, and ended up kicking a 37 yard fg. That means they lost 7 yards on the possession. So yes, I do think Nash Central is bad, and they've had 2 other games to support that. Meanwhile, SWE went on the road to a better teams's home and completely destroyed them. Not saying Hertford County is a great team, but they are better than NC. Hertford County returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, but went nowhere fast on offense the entire game. And that same SW offense that only scored one touchdown vs Nash Central had no issues doing whatever they wanted to do. I think if SW and NC played again without the first game jitters, it would be a larger margin of victory for SWE. As it stands, producing only 2 tds vs NC wasn't great, but I believe that SWE is a decent team this year because of their defense.

Hertford County isn’t a good team — honestly, they might be the weakest on your schedule besides North Lenoir. I saw how bad they were last year and what they’ve had coming up from JV, and you really can’t use that game as a measuring stick for your team.

As for Nash Central, first-game jitters or not, it’s a little concerning that you only won by 8, especially when you look at how badly Rocky Mount handled them.

That said, I think Southwest is set up to have a really good year. Your first true test comes this Friday, and if you can win or even play a close, competitive game, I think it will show the Cougars are capable of competing and making a run in the 4A East. Other than this Friday, I’ll be pulling for y’all.

RPI just came out, and NC is several spots above SWE, without winning a single game in 3 tries so far. The win from the forfeit greatly helped them, while the forfeit loss hurt significantly. And now we have Tarboro this week. What a hole we could possibly be in 😬.
