Thoughts from the board? Is the LWE defense as great this year as they normally are? Has anyone seen both teams play?

I think it will be strength vs. strength. MS O vs. LWE D
77 would be reasonable.

I dont think I have seen MS this year, I usually see a few one way or another. Should be a good one though. Have these two played since the 2005 classic?

Can we just go back and replay the 2005 season and pretend 2016 doesnt exist?

As long as we come out on top of that double OT title game I'm ok with going back.

Bones how good is the LWE D?

Bones- was the rock Mr. Martins helmet? MS4ever this is not 2005 nor close. I would be shocked if there are not 80 points put up. Last visit to Frankfort was with Mr. Fee? I am guessing 04. Nephew Loughnane played on that MS team whatever year it was.

I agree MS4EVER. This game will be decided by the LWE D v MS Offense. Dress warm. Its going to be a cold night and there is no shelter on the visitors side.

I miss the days of Olofsson and Pirkle... Those were the days where I couldnt sleep the night before and I would look forward to the game because it was going to be a hell of a game.

Back when we were tailback high... And played a mean brand of defense. We still had grass. Remember that stuff, grass?

I love the 2005 season. Tyler Knight just wouldnt quit and put the team on his back against us and LWE.

Even LWC was still LWC. There was no IG88... And back in those days Bradley got beat like they were supposed to.

Unfortunately I have not seen MS play Live and in Person. I did see a large portion of the re-broadcast of West Aurora vs. MS. I did see LWE live and in person this weekend.

LWE is a very balanced team. They had a good Offensive game plan vs. WV and executed it well. WV has been vulnerable in Run D this year (GBN 250+ yards, NC & MV 160+ WWS 230+ etc. etc.) especially between the tackles. That is what LWE Targeted with great effect. WV has been very good against passing teams (Hinsdale, Hamilton etc.) - they play well in space/pass coverage, but they have had difficulty generating a pass rush outside of coverage sacks or Blitz's and had some trouble dealing with running QB's. . In the LWE game when WV run blitzed their LBer's to try and fill the running holes - LWE moved to a quick slant passing game to the WR's in the vacated space which was also very effective.

LWE Offense vs. MS Defense: Based on what I saw on the CSN broadcast of the WA/MS game - MS had a lot of trouble with the West Aurora RB and QB on inside and outside runs. While LWE RB's are good - I don't think they are as dynamic as the West Aurora Duo. LWE backs are probably more powerful though. Also - LWE Oline is a better overall group than the WA group in my opinion. Also LWE has a more dynamic passing game than WA. I would think LWE will use a tweaked version of the game plan they used vs. WV for the upcoming game. :

LWE Defensive game plan vs. WV seemed to be.. "stop the run first and make WV throw to all other receivers other than their TE" WV had trouble running it early on. Moreover, LWE DE's and LBer's gave WV a lot of trouble. It is tough to really gauge more than that beyond the second quarter as the WV QB and RB were knocked out of the game late in the second.

LWE Defense vs. MS Offense: I think the MS QB and RB are very very dynamic and will give LWE a lot of trouble. That said - I think MS will have to be able generate an effective passing game to come up with the win. I didn't see MS pass it much in the portions of the CSN re-broadcast I saw so I cant offer an opinion of how MS passing game would match up with LWE passing D.

Should be a good one! I don't think it will be a total track meet. I think it will be something like 35-28? Like I said, I have only seen one game and only a portion of the MS/WA game - but based on that limited sample - I would give the edge to LWE and their Defense.

Great assessment - I've seen both teams play and I agree completely. LWE will be getting one of their starting D linemen back this week so it will be a better D line than last week.
