I had the opportunity to have dinner with Cliff Harris at a charity event several years ago. When we were being introduced one of the things I said was I am a Steeler fan/grew up in Pittsburgh. Without and prompting, the first thing he said to me was Jackie Smith was a great tight end and he should not be known only for the play you posted. Also went on to say what a great person Jackie is. I think that says alot. I also get the fact that he is standing up for his guy but he didn't need to say anything about this particular play.

48 years ago today. Lynn Swann greatest catch in SB history. Against them Cowboys!!
Ummmmmm.....the catch by the Giants WR on a pass from Eli Manning was better.

But hey......you tried.....and that's what counts.

I live in Swann's neighborhood. He is doing well, plays a lot of golf, and looks great. I am hoping I get an invite to play at his home course, Augusta.

You should have thanked Cliff for picking on Roy Gerela after that missed FG! Watching Lambert b*tch-slam him and then going off and dominating the rest of the game was awesome!

You could do what Tyree did.. You couldn't do what Swann did.
At the age of 59, I doubt I could either.....but it's not what I can do....it's what was done. And the Giants guy did was better than what the Pittsburgh. guy did.

Holmes catch won the game. Touchdown. Tyree just caught the ball. Still had to hit another Steelers for the td
The catch is the question, not what happened after.

The Giants guy had the better catch.

I won't get into an argument over the better catch, but Super Bowl X belonged to Lynn Swann. Nobody can dispute that.

I loved his trademark "over the shoulder" spike.

Best memory of that game was in the locker room post-game interviews when Tom Brookshier asked Jack Lambert about his encounter with Cliff Harris. His response (in my words) was that Harris was intimidating our kicker and the Pittsburgh Steelers are the intimidators.. I believe he was foaming at the mouth as he said this.

Current Steelers should take notes

And someone needs to explain what Lambert wasn’t penalized for doing so.

It could get really rough in the old days, 40-50 years ago. I’ve heard tell that the 60s were mayhem; I never saw him play but I’ve read of Night Train Lane absolutely mugging people.

Are you from ohio? You've exhibited ohioish behavior in the past and you're doing it again now. I'd just like to know what I'm working with.

I wonder if Cliff Harris is remembered for anything…

in a super bowl…

against the Steelers

Yes but is easier to catch a pass thrown by a QB wearing a dress

i agree. otherwise Lynn would not have been able to catch the pass from Terry.

with those names one would think Maybe they both wore dresses.
