LW Central @ LW West
HF @ LW East
Stagg @ Andrew
Lockport
@ Sandburg
Bolingbrook @ Bradley

I'm going with 1 upset pick and taking Lockport to win a close game.

LWC/LWW to basically keep playoff hopes alive for either team, as both still have to face East and HF. West now without QB1 for the year, will rely on an untested junior. LWC seems to trying hard with not much talent this year.

Again all eyes will be on HF and East. We'll see with the QB1 situation at East after the injury last week. I expect them to still win this game.

Andrew....when all said and done could finish the season with just 2 losses based on schedule. Crazy good year for them in the works!

Brook SHOULD win at Bradley. But we all know that place is tough to play and weird things seem to happen in Bourbonnais on Friday nights.

I would say LWW is in trouble for this rivalry game...and beyond.

Even before the West starting QB exited in the Andrew game last week, the latter was showing that: 1) the transfer player #3 can be cancelled out by a similar athlete especially if he aligns near the LOS and tries to operate downfield and 2) Marconi can be limited by keeping something alive in the 2nd and 3rd levels of your defense to keep him from going wild.
Because of the QB going down? They still have Marconi and a solid defense.

1. So putting an athlete onthe line of scrimmage and telling him to get verticle cancels out athleticism?
2. How do you keep something alive in those levels of defense? I Is it as simple as fighting off blocks?

Please educate. I didnt fully understand

1. If a skill athlete only aligns near the LOS and primarily releases downfield, a defender with some athleticism can make it much more difficult for him to get offensive touches. If that athlete can sometimes align in the backfield, he is less immediately subject to defenders before actually getting the ball is his hands.
2. Some pressuring defenses "sell out the store" with some regularity, which can take bodies out of the 2nd level of defense and leave the middle of the field vacant at the 3rd level since more-centered secondary personnel must consequently widen to "top off" receivers.
Sorry for my original lack of clarity.

1. ok.. your saying his alignment... now i understand... if the flanker/slot is off LOS its harder for DB to get his hands on... if he is aligned as a flanker or slot in a trip set OR goes in motion- same concept...to set him in the backfield limits his ability to get down field. worse place against any type of man or cov II concept as the last receiver on LOS is actually on LOs. Easy fix. I am sure Ernst is fully aware.

2. Blitzing teams- live by and die by the blitz. blitzing teams have to play cover (), 1 or 2 man... two man is basically your nickel at this level. You do see some old 46 concept "Blitz, block, chase" technique. Any boot or roll out the Mac usually will PRess and force the faster throw on QB.

I totally understand what your saying. West #3 is probably much better suited in movement rather than on the LOS; the way Cental Blitzes I am sure Ernst has a few tricks up his sleeve.

All 3 of us with predictions got em this week, nice work everyone.

Interested in seeing how Sandburg bounces back. Andrew keeps rolling. West's win keeps playoff hope alive, must win the 2 remaining outside of HF and East. Central likely eliminated, can't believe they are 1-4.

Brook, HF, East class above all else as usual...

Honestly looking forward to first ever matchup LWE and LWW last week of season.

You can look forward about an hour and a half dealing with HS football players and students in general. That said, the possibilities get very interesting with the southwest alignment going forward. I miss the old SICA.

Regarding the cross-over games so far between the larger Blue division schools and smaller Red division programs, the former holds a 1-6 advantage over the latter with an average margin of victory just over 21 points. Looking at the 8 remaining cross-overs, the Red may squeeze out 2 more wins. Who, in the smaller-enrollment division, thought this was a good idea?

What options did they have? At least they split the conference into small/big school divisions. Lockport and Sandburg are the only winnable games for the crossovers.

That conference and ADs seem to really be about equality. Probably made it easier to do it with other major sports like basketball and baseball. Other sports they all play each other so why not make it equal and do crossovers for football. If districts don't happen it'll be interesting to see if they tweak it for football. The east/Central game could really end up being a bloodbath now, and even east/west. While it's cool to have the district rivalry, it won't be pretty to watch....

I also don't see the purpose. Perhaps if the divisions weren't done by enrollment the crossovers make more sense.

If going to a blowout it's gotta be a Raider blowout lol I've only seen em 2x this year.

Otherwise the Naperville South vs Naperville Central is the place to be!

Yeah I get ya. I have to see the crosstown rivalry game. Maybe we can catch another game later in the season or the playoffs. I am back living closer to the south suburbs.
