Didn't realize they have only given up 33 pts this year,13 in their only loss of year to Dekalb.
IIRC...the Spartans were the last team to win the old Little 7 Conference title...many moons ago...

A bit of trivia:

Sycamore won the first & last Little Seven football championships (1921 & 1995)

Geneva, Sycamore and Batavia were the only schools to remain in the Little 7 throughout.

Sycamore won something like 33 straight in the mid-sixties and then Geneva followed that with 26 or 27 in a row from ‘68 to mid-‘71.

Red Grange still holds the Little 7 record for most points scored in a career.

I always said if Geneva & Morris weren’t 40+ miles away both towns would’ve been burned to the ground in the late ‘70s and through the ‘80s....total Rome and Carthage. Both coaches exemplified their teams: Darlington was loud & brash; Auchstetter was more reserved who never had a bad word to say about anyone. I remember him being asked about Darlington and saying, “let’s just say we don’t always see eye to eye on things.”
Auchstetter and Geneva are one of the very few teams to have a .500+ winning % vs Morris (probably JCA and ?).

I went a dozen or so years ago to see Geneva at home in the playoffs on a Saturday afternoon...then down to Morris Saturday night. I had talked to Coach Auchstetter, who was at the game that day, and I told him that I was going down to Morris later. Coach Darlington was still there, and Coach Auchstetter asked me to say hi to Dan...When I told Coach Darlington Jerry said hi, he kind of smiled...and shook his head...and said, "That dude...we butted heads many a time..."

I’ll tell you what happened. Sycamore is way better than I even imagined. I suspected they were good, but damn. Super physical and fast on defense. They come after you on every play. Offensive line is dominant. They aren’t giant but seems like they have 20 kids around. 210-230. Two touchdown drives of 11 and 9 minutes. Put it all together and you have a beating.

Well i was really hoping the outcome would be different because it’s sycamore and I personally didn’t like the way they handled themselves. But they are really dam strong and I kind of knew it was coming. Hopefully your son got out of there healthy and ready to play next week

I know this is a team you think you would see in the Chicago Catholic League.

Do you know if Sycamores HC went to or coached at a CCL school?

He started out down in Metamora coaching for his brother Pat. Coached at some other schools and was head coach for a while at Princeton before Sycamore. The Ryan brothers are two pretty successful coaches.

He’s fine. Disappointed in the loss, wishes he would have played better, but it happens. You have bad games and teams are better than you. He’s on to LP, but appreciate you asking.

Princeton made a big mistake not holding on to that dude.. I was living there at the time coaching JFL and I was the only one running his offense.. I asked another coach(some arrogant insurance salesman) why didn't he use his offense, he pretty much made it sound like he wasn't going to be around long.. I think Princeton muddled around in mediocrity for years after that.. Btw, my team, went undefeated and won the league..
