I used to love me some Bueno. The bean burritos were so good, I thought I could eat that stuff forever. For about the last year, every time I get a bean burrito or anything containing beans from TB, I am left with sadness and have to resort to eating a few chips. The beans just seem to be dry and have a texture like a semi hard paste.

Last night, my wife brought home some Bueno. I usually will have a muchaco and a burrito. I took one bite of the muchaco and spit it right the hell out. The burritos were the same, just garbage.

So, I am done with TB. I am really sad. I used to love to eat those gotdam burritos and just giggle and fart like a moronic fool. It was such bliss.

The muchaco tasted like someone had sprayed Windex or some crap all over the veggies, the meat was nasty, and the beans....PUKE. Just dry and gross.

I went to sonic and got a cheeseburger.

Btw, the Catoosa TB is where we usually go, and that was the case last night, but the same experienced has been had at the Claremore TB as well.

I've never understood why Taco Bueno's are so universally filthy and smell like piss. I, too, used to enjoy the occasional Bueno but the places have gone downhill. I'm not one to criticize the appearance of hard working people but the staff looks like the crew from a halfway house, especially the ones in south Oklahoma City.

I will say this, their Tuesday taco platter is pretty dang cheap.

In Tulsa the Bueno near 87th and Riverside is not good. But there is not another bad one that I can remember.
I usually go to the one at 103rd and Memorial.

I love me some Bueno. Eat there at least once per week. Sometimes two.

Universally filthy and smell like piss

I talked to a mgmt team that was in one on 240 and western in okc.
Told the regional lady Bueno wasn't Bueno without crap all over the tables and floor. She was aghast and told me how they tried to keep the foh clean and I was like no you outpace the filthiness that is braums by a smidge

There is one on western and memorial that has the sweetest Mexican lady working the floor.
She keeps that one clean during the day.

She was at 63&may for years until she couldn't deal with the crackheads running that one.

Food wise it's all about whose working that day. The kids at nw hgwy and Rockwell hook me up with 1985 era phat *** burritos bout anywhere else what was once a party burrito now is the 1.49 bean version.

I've resorted to a cup of frijoles and a bean burrito as standard order. Use the frijoles to top off the burrito then pound down the half cup of frijoles for extra steam on the fart power.

Quodoba kicks chipotles *** cept where it counts on the guac.
Usually prefer those two but Bueno is a 3.50 meal and sometimes that works

Chipotle has no queso. Qdoba wins that one. If there was Bueno down in Houston, I'd be a semi-frequent visitor.

Not sure if they have any in Oklahoma, but in N. Texas Taco Casa is where it is at.

Agree; I've only recently checked out Taco Casa and was really impressed. The TBs have just become too inconsistent. In OKC circa 1972 or so, I remember the 1st TB I was familiar with being at 16th and Rockwell - simple menu, hot (not dried out) tortillas and good, clean place. When we lived near Council/Expressway - the location at Rockwell was just too often a 'pit' - so I stuck to the drive through and tried not to think about it. The TB's in McKinney/Frisco are okay, usually clean as far as I can tell - so they are still a solid choice for a cheap lunch. Given the choice, though, I'm liking the Taco Casa pretty good !

You really know your OKC metro Taco Buenos. I used to hit up 240 & Penn and 63rd & May quite a bit, and they've really fallen, as you pointed out. For me, the worst one I've encountered, by far, is 44th & Sunnylane in Del City. I really don't understand how they've kept their franchise this long. I feel like one visit from their corporate headquarters would shut it down on the spot, but it's never happened.

I've been to one of these in Paris, TX several times. The food is great and the service has always been unbelievable for a fast food chain, not to mention the restaurant and bathrooms are actually clean. I don't know if they're all like that or not but the one in Paris blows away any other fast food Mexican place I've been to.

I had problems with the bueno by my house, and finally got tired of it and went to their facebook page and posted a pic of the nacho salad I had that looked like ****. I was put in contact with the regional GM and after a few bad experiences and emailing the GM the bueno by my house has improved a lot, we hardly ever have problems with it now. You may give it a shot.

I might do that. And getting some 1985 style Bueno would make me very happy. When I was in school in C-more, my daily routine was two bean burritos and a coke after school. Dad called it "two poops and a pop". Would love two good poops and a pop right about now.

So yeah, I get my ways with words from my dad lol.

There's a Taco Casa in Norman now.

The Bueno on memorial and western is ****. It's slow, they rarely get an order correct, and the quality isn't good.

Unfortunately for me, it's the closest fast food place and I am a glutton for punishment.

Oddly enough, there's a snow cone stand behind the adjacent Church's chicken that's pretty good. It's "Philadelphia water ice", which I guess is some kind of Italian ice variant. But yeah, take the gun just to be safe :)

When I worked at one in High school for a small amount of time. We had a pet rat that lived in the grease container out back. Guy made it for like a month was one of the grosses things ever. It also made me never want to eat at a Bueno again. Also why do they all have filthy bathrooms?

Bueno used to be one of my must haves when coming back to Oklahoma, but I started just stopping at one along 35W near Fort Worth since those are still good. I grew up in Del City, so I've been to the 44th and Sunnylane one more times than I can count, so not surprised that it is in that state. I also keep it simple and only order two combo burritos and a drink every time. Haven't had bueno in a couple years though sadly. I miss it.

I think there might be one left in Shawnee other than the one on Claremore...but if you want cheap burritos and tacos and have quick access to a turd hopper, then hop, skip and fart right on over to Taco Tico on 66 towards the north end of town.

Growing up here, it always felt like I was stepping back into the 80s going in there when I would come back home from college or even visit the folks later on. They had a table style pac man game still in there I think up until just a few short years ago lol.

Well, I might or might not be exaggerating a bit on the pac man deal, but they kept the same paint and decor for YEARS. The burritos and tacos are made with store bought canned ingredients it seems, and the tortillas are definitely the "Always Save" variety.

But when you are a poor high school kid or college student and hung over after a night of boozin it up and trying to hit on an old flame, nuthun gets the beer ***** flowin like a sack of cheap *** Taco Tico....followed by a nap compounded by self-dutch-ovening in a warm bed...

Taco Tico is an 80's classic but the one in Shawnee sucks. There's one in El Dorado KS that's still good though.

When visiting my in laws in Clarmore we always grab Taco Tico on the way back to Tulsa. Gotta eat it in the car on the way home because the 30 minute "grace period" on the way back isn't enough. Usually finish eating by Catoosa then straight to the crapper when I walk in the door. Totally worth it!

I don't know if this belongs in this thread or not but I just read in the Perkins journal the guy who owned and operated bobos passed away.

I will tie it in to poop to make it relevant. We would eat there when a lot of extended family were in town for the holidays and one of my cousins had a birthday at that time of year as well. We told the wait staff so they could sing to him and bring him one of those multi colored ice cream things. We were sitting at a huge table by the bathroom and he had gone in there to crap just before the wait staff showed up to sing happy birthday. We all laughed and told them where the birthday boy was expecting them to come back later. They actually opened the bathroom door, some of them went in the bathroom and they all sang to him through the stall door. It was a classic family moment.

That's awesome. Nothing like having the meat sweats and a gut full of pressured up turds and chocolate milk and squeezing whilst being serenaded by some strangers in a public hopper.

That would be akin to some kind of nightmare.

For cheap Mexican food, in Colorado Springs there is a chain called La Casita. They make their own salsa and I may be biased, but it's great for fast food Mexican food. Really good in my opinion.

The T.B. in Sand Springs is always super busy...and I have no idea why. As mentioned above...it use to be good/great. Now it's crap food. Really salty and just slopped on a plate. And of course it's dirty. No Bueno.

I almost always stop at the one in Gainesville, on my way to Dallas. I'm not one to usually eat hard shell tacos, but I love these. Shells are always super fresh and warm and there is lots of meat and cheese. Love them!

Anyone had any Taco Bueno lately? I did, and the queso had a suspicious powder like taste/texture.. definitely not what it used to be. Another brick in the wall, I guess. With so many Taco Bueno historians on board, I figure someone can confirm or deny my suspicion. The tamales were still good a few months ago.

Taco Bueno was awesome in the 70's into the mid to late 80's. I've been telling everyone I know that it hasn't been good for at least 25 years.
