And ohio state has similar composites. Need coaching too. Both Michigan and OSU should be top of league based on rosters.
Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan State have just as many guys ranked top 100 in HS too.

Can confirm there will be an OOC game next season.

Even if Cliff leaves our top priority in the portal needs to be a point guard. It's not happening with Mulcahy. He needs to be the secondary guy. Luckily the transfer portal is generally guard-friendly. Find a Jalen Pickett, a Tyree Appleby, a Umoja Gibson, whoever. Tell him we're putting the ball in your hands and you're gonna have enough shooting (Cam, Paul, Gavin) to open up driving lanes.

Day dreaming over here....

Starters
(potentially very long line up)
Cliff OR Transfer 5th Yr Big (if Cliff Gone) (6'10 / ?)
Mag (6'7)
Gavin (6'7)
Paul (6'7)
Transfer 5th yr PG (?)

Reserve Guards
Spencer
Simpson
Davis

Wings
Hyatt
Ndongo
Chol

Bigs

Wolf
Freshman (Bodo?)

We talked tangentially about this on the pod we just got done recording. As Pike continues to elevate the recruiting of the program, some of these issues we've had the past few seasons will begin to dissipate. We will have a bevy of players who have the ability to create their own shots, many of our players will have the athleticism of a guy like Derek Simpson but with advanced abilities to score/finish off of that separation, etc.

In 2 years we may have the most talented roster in the B1G if recruiting continues to trend the way it currently is. I think the ceiling for this program is what Houston's roster currently looks like. Long athletes all over the court who play elite defense and all have the ability to shoot/create shots/score.
If we can keep the recruits. We have to dance this year and make it to November.

Everyone lauded how we had no transfers out last off season.
Maybe we would have benefited from some to bring in more impactful players.
No transfers is probably not ideal since no coach hits on 100% of their recruits. There will always be people on the roster that don't pan out

If you hit on all your recruits then there won't be enough playing time to go around

You don't want crazy turnover every year but some roster turnover can be a good thing

If Simpson becomes a good B1G player, Pike absolutely saw something others didn't
Look at his offers - no other B1G team offered him
Compared to other players he looks 6’1” not the 6’3” in the program. Needs a little more time in the strength program.

Michigan,as much as it hurts to say is the most talented team in a watered down Big Ten. Bufkin will be a great pro and Dickinson,a jerk is a very skilled college big. With a healthy Howard they will make noise in the NCAA if they sneak in and could also win the Big Ten tourney.Stars matter.Rutgers is most definitely hitting the portal and is well aware of what is available as of now, especially at the 5. That is factual.
As to next season, there will be an OOC game at MSG and 3 teams on the possible docket are Gonzaga,St. John's and Providence.
Gonzaga please.. don’t give other local teams oxygen at the garden. RU owns the place for that game.

Yes Gonzaga would be nice. But I won’t be at all disappointed if it’s St. John’s as that has to be a road game for us, right? Old big east foe at the garden… battle for nyc against an inferior team. Let’s go!

That’s what I have been saying all along.

Also fine with the other locals (Fordham, Iona or Manhattan) if they want to make their home game there too.

It’s like Temple for Football…is it really an away game? 😉

Was told recruiting websites didn’t know what they were talking about and that Derek is underrated. Clearly they know a thing or two. Purdue has 2 three star freshmen and they look just fine.

You absolutely have to be a potential troll but assuming your not, are you actually saying the 2 freshman Purdue guards, playing with an automatic double-team draw Player of the year, Zach Edey, is the way to evaluate players???

Painter has better guards on his roster, he actually started the 2 freshman guards because Edey lightens the workload because of Edey and because they're spot up shooters, who can catch and shoot, once Edey is doubled.

Once Edey is removed from the equation, those guards look no different than Derek Simpson....Simpson is a better defender and would put up the same stats if he was on Purdue playing with Edey.

The Woolfolk jury is still TBD, but so was the case on Eugene Omoyuri, Myles Johnson, Caleb McConnell and Mawot Mag. All have thrived in roles that were overwhelming for them in spots as freshman and sophomores....

Chol is really a 2023 recruit with a head start in a redshirt role this year, but anyone complaining about depth or lack thereof, is fine to do so. Freshman usually struggle in most leagues, but if a top 5 program is your standard, there's 350 other programs to choose from that get ignored, I guess.

Loyer is legitimately good. It’s not surprising you can’t see that. I’m not reading the rest of your drivel.

I have known RU72 for years and all I can say is that he bleeds Scarlet. He has shown it with the behind the scenes things he has done for this program and with his pocketbook. He is telling you some of what he hears. Not everything he hears comes true but believe me sometimes depending on the source you want to believe them but know they are BS artists. Personally I know of several incidents when our ADs were warned about what would happen if they took a certain path when factual information was given to them and they went in the wrong direction.
