He's more skilled offensively than defensively at the moment, but has the tools to be effective defensively as well.

Harsh, but true. Coming into this season, I thought Gaines and Turner would be pretty dependable and everything else was a mystery. So far, just the opposite for the most part.

Is Gaines injured. I've never seen him him play tentative before. He's only a junior so even with a youth movement he could be a key player (ie like Sanjay) for a possible breakout season for the team next year.
