Maverick, that 09 team was very good defensively. We seem to have some good talent coming up. Our jv went undefeated last year and and one loss this year to 4a Greenville rose. Our middle school also went undefeated this year. Just hope we can keep this talent together. A lot can happen in s few years!

The infrastructure for football in Tarboro is on par with high level 3A schools. Locally, there is youth football, feeding into middle school and JV. The offense is virtually the same for 6-7 years. Coach Craddock admitted to experimenting with different offenses early in his career, but came back around to Tarboro T. Tarboro has been running this offense since the 50's. When you look at the "down years" for Tarboro football, it was usually a coaching change which resulted in a change in offensive philosophy. Eventually, they all come back to the T because it works. The future for Tarboro is always linked to its past. The kids grow up wanting to be Kelvin Bryant, Donald Frank, Shaun Draughn, Todd Gurley, Takoby Cofield, Tyquan Lewis. Most 1A schools can't replicate that kind of commitment to football because it developed over the years playing in higher classifications.

Spot on. That 2008 team that started this run we’ve been on the past decade was the first group to go through the 4-team youth football league.

A lot of other places have travel teams and that limits you to only having 11 kids on the field at once. With the 4 team league you always have 22 kids on the field.

I am tired of hearing about North Stanley.... They do NOT have anywhere near the speed needed to compete with Tarboro.

Tarboro vs Mt Airy again (Book It)

Have you seen them play? If not, how do you know. From what I’ve seen on film they look like a good team and should not be taken lightly.

We have to get through Lakewood or South Stanley first. Can’t overlook anybody this time of year.

How many other 1A schools have local youth football programs that can field 4 teams? Tarboro AND....

It's clear that the town of Tarboro is highly committed to football, but you also draw from a town with 12,000 people. No other 1A school in the state (that isn't a charter school) has a town that big within their drawing area besides Albemarle.

So realistically Tarboro should be able to field more youth football teams than any other 1A school. Yes, Tarboro's commitment to football certainly plays a big part, but so does the size of your population center relative to others. Not trying to downgrade the accomplishment, just being real.

In the near future do you think Tarboro will stay 1aa my Cougars have a damb good football program but being realistic in hard for us to beat teams like a Tarboro and Reidsville we can match both teams in coaching and effort ,but we cant match these teams in team speed Reidsville beat us last year on big plays I'm betting we will have another shot at them this year I'm hoping if we play them enough times we can finally break thru ,if we keep dropping in students we will soon be 1aa

Everybody knows the town of Murphy is the biggest town in the SMC. And yet it's still dwarfed in size by Tarboro, Albemarle, Mt Airy and others within 1A football.

The difference being nobody in Murphy cries about it, like you cry about Murphy.

All those teams you named play in the 1AA yet you play in the 1a. Of coarse you don't cry about it you just refuse to play in the bracket you are supposed to

Nope wrong as usual. Albemarle is 1A and were 1A in 2011, 2012, 2013 when Murphy had to go through them to get to the 1A title game.

congrats to tarboro on the win ... but that pass defense my gawd . swe #11 had a feilddddd day be lucky they only had one good receiver
On one hand, that pass defense had three picks in the first half. On the other hand, it did allow SWE to get back in the game after adjustments in the second half. So I don't know what say about it. They are still top notch overall defense IMO.

Well using your own argument and logic, Murphy shouldn’t have to play those schools anyway because they all should be 2a or 3a. That means Murphy would STILL win the state even if they were in 1aa. What else you got?
have them go up and prove it

Is there anyway Tarboro could schedule a non conference game with Havelock?
