Three players thrown out the game for targeting. I am not saying that they were not deserved, I'm just saying that it's going to be a long year. By the way, I hate the QB slide rule when its a straight QB run play. JMO

I was thinking it was a joke we were practicing more of the rugby style tackling until tonight. May end up helping us keep our starters on the field.

His ejection from the UCLA game was the worst call I've ever seen when it comes to helmet to helmet contact.

I did see a few ejections last night and thought it was pretty high and hopefully not an epidemic.

I went to my brothers JV game the other night and was confused why he didn't now kids over on defense (he is a big kid). He kept grabbing guys and rolling to the ground. Apparently they have been practicing that. I guess as long as he doesn't miss a tackle it's not a big deal.

I was working and only saw a short clip highlight of the Tennessee play on the punt returner. It looked pretty bad. On the clip, it looked like the returner had called fair catch. Did he? If so, that makes it way worse. Either way, the returner didn't change levels for the last several steps that the defender took. He could have easily gone lower and should have known that. It was reckless and extremely dangerous.

No fair catch was called but reguardless it was a bad hit.

I saw two of the Minnesota player ejections for targeting, and thought they were very cheap calls. Both of them involved the defensive player starting to go into a tackling motion when the offensive player changed levels. It resulted in helmet to helmet contact, but did not look like any intent whatsoever to actual "target" the opponent.

I think there needs to be two different penalties. The one like I described should be called something like "unintentional helmet to helmet contact" and only result in a 15 yard penalty and no ejection. The other would be the traditional "targeting" call where it is clear the defensive player went after an unprotected player and results in a 15 yard penalty and an ejection.

As Rush Limbaugh has said, this is the beginning of the end of football as we know it. 20 years from now, heck maybe even 10 years from now we'll be watching flag (or touch) football.

I've said this before these rules are going to kill off the goose that lays the golden egg for these colleges and universities and I for one will not donate or pay for season tickets to watch powder puff football. Kenny Bell said it best "we're all adults and we know what we signed up for".
