None of those teams were 'historically' good is the point, I think, he was trying to make. The Lakers were at the end of their run, and clearly their best years behind them. Of the others, none won a single championship. Now, one could also argue that part of the reason they didn't is because of Jordan, which is true, to an extent. The only team on that list I would classify as being on the cusp of 'historically' good, would be those Jazz teams.

I would classify the '96 Sonics as historically good, too. 64 wins is up there. In the previous 22 seasons, only the LA Lakers in 1987, with 65 wins, had a more successful regular season in the Western Conference.... the Suns also had the best record in the NBA in 1993 - and Charles Barkley was the regular season MVP.
