Who ever thought that Jason Tatum would be this years DI scape goat. OFC
What is your obsession with not seeing Jason for what he is? After today's game he has the worst +/- on the entire team. Coaches should tell him to focus on D and rebounding and never to pass half court when we're on O. Of course, he'd take that for the coaches wanting him to take half-court shots all game, lol.

. I'm hoping that he goes from goat to hero in March and April I feel we need his size and athleticism to win a title. We have seen the potential at times but we need the best Jason most of the time instead of every now and then

I'm not saying he doesn't have potential, and he has the abilities to be huge, but he hasn't done it yet. I'd love to see it click for the young man and be what we thought we were getting, but until then, he is what is he and that's a liability.

All I said was who would have thought that Tatum was going to be the player we seem to stay on his case. Not one mention of any thing negative about him a month ago. It was Matt that the board was calling for his benching. Now if Jason goes on a run and plays some great basketball are we going to find another player. Chase maybe if he's healthy again. Too many arm chair coaches on this board and of course it's fine to have our opinion about how this team should be ran but we can't get fired can we. Jason has had a run of some bad games and decisions but he is just a kid still learning how to play college basketball. I have a feeling he's gonna have a big part in our run to #6 and I'm not obsessed. That's a thr term that is used a lot over there about all of us and the way we feel about Duke. OFC

We won't make it past the sweet 16 without Jayson Tatum playing a lot and giving us serious buckets/rebounds.
Sure today we hit a few big shots down the stretch with him on the bench, but we still need him....much more than this board needs any Tatum Hater.

Hahhaha yeah right.. we dont need him. Nobody is above the team and we are a team with him sitting

No he's always been a ball hog and never played team ball it just didn't show up until we played good talent. You keep talking about Matt too but good grief he played terrible in Nov and Dec

They've all played terrible at sometime through the season, but there are many who like to play the blame game. A lot of you want to hammer Tatum for looking at the official wanting a foul called when I've seen everyone of them do the same thing. I agree Tatum's minutes need to be cut down, but he still needs to be a big part of this team to make a run in March.

This team has obvious problems not named Tatum. And it would please all Duke fans if some of us end up being wrong about him. But it was not a coincidence that the offense was better before he came back from injury and it was no coincidence that Duke was able to come back and win yesterday with him on the bench.

I think I would blame the coaching more than Tatum himself. Every single player has been sent to the bench to try and send a message. Luke and Grayson both sat on the bench to start the State game. So it seems that every single player has been sent a message other than Tatum. I hope he clicks and becomes a dominant force. May it be the best tasting crow I will have ever eaten. But right now, I think there are too many offensive weapons on the team for him to get the green light every time he has the ball in his hands.

You didn't think the game clearly changed when he fouled out?

Not really....with the exception of the 9-0 (and three made 3-pointers) run the last two minutes we were getting housed without him just like with him.

With or without Tatum, Duke essentially needed something other-worldly to happen in order to secure a win at Wake.

Really?? Luke took over when he sat that's the truth. Can't have two alphas and Tatum needs to be a puppy and play about 10 min a game

Every single one of our championship teams have had at least 2 alphas on it. That's kinda the whole point in being a championship level team.

10 minutes a game, nope. He needs to play in the 20's and I think Bolden needs to be playing more. I'm more confused about Bolden's playing time than anything. It looked like it was all starting to come together for him and then he gets relegated back to the pine. He has to be a little confused unless he's done something and is being disciplined for it.

Not saying Tatum's been great, and I have certainly complained about him to the TV or my wife plenty. But I remember when we thought Winslow might not help us down the stretch that year. Then K moved him to 4 and we ran through the NCAA's with that line up. Maybe a move to 3 for Tatum or something similar would really spark the team. Or maybe he's doomed us all.

Per the ending I just dont think we win it if Tatum is on the floor. The ball movement was so good, and everybody was looking for Luke because he was on fire! Even when he drove the lane, and they collapsed on him he hit GA on the wing. Monday nite Jayson was on the floor at the end and of course we came up just short.

I do think Jayson is one of our most 2 or 3 most talented kids (maybe most), but just think his role needs to be tweeked somewhat remainder of year for us to challenge nationally....

JMO by the end of the year people that bashing Tatum are going to be saying what in the world was I thinking

I guess you could consider my opinion on Tatum to be bashing. But I don't think I will be saying "what was I thinking" if he develops into a good teammate and an excellent contributor. I will be very happy that he progressed and improved. Let's not pretend that he is above criticism just because he has a high ceiling.

They will rationalize it some way I'm sure.

Rationalize what exactly? I am only speaking for myself, but I would be as happy as the next Duke guy if he were to shut his critics up. I will gladly stop criticizing him and embrace his presence on the team if (and I'm hoping when) he rises to his potential. That doesn't mean that my opinion on his game right now is wrong.

In the end, he has a lot to offer this team, I am not saying his minutes should be as low as some are saying. Just that the coaches need to find a better way to use his talents. Right now, there is more reason to say the offense is better without him than it is with him. If that changes, we will all be happy.

Luke scored all 30 of his second half points with Tatum on the bench.
