Don't be confusing the stuff you saw from Dawson last year with the Air Raid offense. What we will be running this year has much more kinship with the Air Raid than that ineffective mess put on the field by Dawson.
Except Gran's offense isn't an Air Raid offense.
I've read all the rave reviews on Young, would Stoops redshirt Young if he thinks we'll be okay without him, barring injuries? With a year of maturity and work in the weight room, he would be a hoss next year.
No. Young is in the competition for the 3rd offensive tackle overall. Won't redshirt. For as good as he's been though, the starting offensive tackles have reportedly been really good.
The Oline was horrid last year. It has been a weakness for decades. No poster is unreasonable for stating the obvious with this unit.
Let's let them prove it against teams in other jerseys before shunning someone's opinion. We have heard spring time accolades for years.
I am concerned about the oline, dline, lbers, and qb as of today. I am optimistic that barker and a lber or two will shine.
There's concern, and then there's an unreasonable refusal to believe that our players have improved. He displays an unreasonable refusal to believe that our players have improved, that's when it becomes griping, and he'll get responses like that.
Also, I don't recall Stoops saying anything that was wildly off the wall. He said the defensive backs were really good, and they were. He said the wide receivers were better, and they were, even in Dawson's poor excuse of an offense. He did say he felt that Towles was better, but he ended up being a lot worse, but can we attribute that to Towles actually regressing in terms of skill, or did it have to do with Dawson's playcalling (which Stoops actually criticized publicly multiple times).
Hard for a QB to have better stats when most of the plays are runs and deep passes, while also being told to stay in the pocket by all means. Add that on top of being asked to hold the ball for 4-5 seconds, and the QB's would consistently feel heat in the pocket. That's not just the case for our QB's, but if you ask any QB in the country to hold the ball for 4-5 seconds in the pocket, and they're going to come under a lot of pressure and be sacked plenty of times. Regardless of the line in front of them, that's just far too long, and noting that, it should be no surprise that the QB and o-line failed under Dawson.
