And Pope plays Jasper 6 minutes.
His substitution patterns tonight were absolutely bipolar. Zero explanation. Moreno is FAR better than Garrison. It ain’t close. His *** needs to be resigned to that. Garrison is a liability. Went LONG stretches w/o MO on court. Can’t happen. Lowe is Aberdeens backup. He’s feast or famine on offense and SOFT AF defensively.

Aberdeen is a stud. This team will go as far as he can carry it.

I think we have a good group of players. Oweh is the favorite for POY in the SEC. UL is well coached and they will be in or close to the top 20 ranking all season. I understand no one likes losing but many on this board , by reading your posts, are way too upset for early season.

Some of us saw this coming 4 months ago. I was fooled by that fluke Purdue game. We don’t have an elite player, don’t have a big time shooter and don’t have a legit post player.

Major whiffs on Dent, Wilkerson and Wilson are the reason this will be another double digit loss team.

If Pope misses on Stokes then he deserves serious heat for not being able to land elite freshmen.

JQ is a projected top 10 pick , he is the star. He will play this year. Add him in the mix and we are on a different level. We have other players capable of becoming a star, they just aren’t there yet. Roster is fine, the rotation is not.
He’s mainly a defensive player. He will help on defense for sure, but isn’t the answer to our problems.

We don’t need him to be the scorer, we have those. He will change everything on both ends of the court. Just hope he is back by mid December. If not Moreno and Jelavic will need to progress quickly. Both have huge upside especially Moreno.

i dont know how good someone can look in 6 minutes, he might be our most talented player behind moreno so he needs more time

Well he looked out of place in those 6 minutes. Tonight he played 6 minutes too much.

okay could say the same for bg, moreno has out played him every game, and pope keeps starting him because of "experience".... its so rediculous

Moreno has a smaller vertical that Mike Scott. Guards were getting up higher than him and taking his rebounds. Moreno is not the answer.

IMO its not lack of a Mikel Brown, hell we've had top 10 players like Wagner etc that couldnt put together a game Brown did tonight and we could land Stokes and him not put it together to have that type of massive game . PK hit the jack pot landing a top 10 guy and him turning out to be a possible all american right away.

The problem is , The team is undisciplined and too soft and thats on Pope and its not something he's going to change. I hope barnhart is gone asap or if he's not, MF'er better give 9 million a year to Oats or Beard.

Yes, TONIGHT. The point is that he’s not remotely the type of player you put your hopes of a national title on. He was on the title team last year and didn’t even start. He should be your 4th, MAYBE 3rd option or leading scorer.
The guy literally saved UF's @SS in the final four when Clayton was playing bad so I guess you can put some hope in on him with a title, its several of the other players you cant.

He would have started at most other schools. He has been as advertised thus far. I don't understand the shade your throwing.
I think y’all are misunderstanding what I’m saying. I agree he’s been great but he can’t be your first or second best player if you’re going to be a title contender.

LOL he’s been our best guard thus far and he’s not even close. Well, maybe Chandler has been close. Those two would be my starting backcourt.

Projected draft status is way overrated! Williams has also been a projected 1st round pick next year, but he was really bad the first 2 games. Draft value is based on where NBA GMs think a player will be in 2-3-4 years, NOT where he is NOW.
JQ is a defense and rebounding guy. I don't expect much offense from him other than putbacks and lobs and breaks. I don't think he will be a guy to go get us a basket when we need one.
We know (from last year) Oweh can do that. Maybe his month out has him a little behind, but assuming no setbacks he should be back to himself in a couple weeks.
Aberdeen showed last night that he is willing to be that guy (I thought he was a complementary guy before last night).
I think Lowe wants to be that guy, Pitt forced him to be that guy last year. Yet to be seen if he has the level of efficiency to be that though.
Chandler did show some kahonas last night, but he seems more like a Robin than a Batman.
I don't think Dioubote has the offensive toolbox to be that. Maybe he can in the paint, but that's yet to be seen.
That leaves Johnson, who I think will be that, but I'm not sure if he will this year or not, certainly not in November. But I do really like his skills. I could see him having a season long progression like Mercer did.

Jasper Johnson will look great against unathletic guards like Fletcher Loyer (Purdue), but look over-matched against elite talent. He was unplayable last night. UK needs him to look like a top 20 recruit to be a contender in this loaded field. I was expecting him to be a major contributor for UK, not someone who can't get off the bench in a big game like UL.

I look at Pryor for UL. He was and ,will be one of Louisville's main guys. He had the same type of injury that Quaintance had back in November of last year. Pryor had all of the advantages of high level rehab that Quaintance has now. Pryor played a couple minutes last night. UL is trying to gradually bring him back to game level. Quaintance injury happened 4 months later than Pryors. I have 'some' hope that we can see a fully healthy Quaintance.

With no star. Not a good formula for winning a title.
Oh gosh...not back to the Cal mindset

- How about have a damn defensive gameplan?.... We looked like a reactionary AAU team out there (and happened a lot last year)
- How about get your *** from lagging behind the 3pt line and get out on shooters? Why is Garrison, Diabate, Moreno etc...lagging off high ball screen and not out hedging/rushing shooters when our gauards go under those ball screens
- Why are our athletic guards not fighting thru screens better?
- Why are so many drives to the rim watching Garrison not contesting the shot....but literally just with his feet on ground and late to jump and contest?
- Why not cheat off non shooters when UL got in the lane? (I.e. lay off UL PF and Centers....when penetration happens)?

Aberdeed looked pretty dang star-ish to me...and Oweh for college is a top notch wing.

This is some of the same half *** defense Pope put on display last year.....it ain't about talent. HE needs to value both ends of the floor and have the balls to get into dudes assess on the team. This nice guy/philosopher stuff is one thing...but sometimes a kid needs his *** ripped to get attention to detail.
