If I want to post a picture like that, the easiest way is to download to my computer; then upload to photo storage (I use Google Photos, free and works quite well), then link to the photo on here.

The picture has to reside somewhere on the WWW you cannot link to a picture on your computer. Therefore as already mentioned, you need to upload it to a web hosting site and link from there.
