Not exactly a vote of confidence for Coach Frost. But maybe that is just how I am interpreting it.

I am curious as to the thought process (or lack thereof) of that statement at this time.
I see absolutely no value in a person at Carter’s level stating anything until there is something to announce.

You know what that statement really says? Here is what he is really saying: “We have made a serious preliminary decision to fire coach Frost. Barring some miracle upsets in the next three weeks, coach Frost will be terminated.” All of that ******** about “no decision has been made” is just window dressing to keep players motivated and current recruiting commits strung along until a new coach is named.

It's like everyone associated with Nebraska Football, lacks the ability to simply not speak.

He is gone. That’s how I see it. If he was coming back they would say he was coming back. Earlier in the year Carter mentioned how Frost was the guy and was the one who made sure he got the extension. Clearly you know the answer if they change tunes that fast

if they play the 'off the field' card it shoulda been pulled out sooner, no?

You're probably spot on for this one. Who do you wanna see as the next coach. Just kidding, had to try my impression of antirowboat or whatever his name is lol.

If they pull the off the field card they ruin their reputation for future coaches. I think they want to show Frost he got all the support needed. They will thank him and move on. If they bring up the off field stuff, investigation, etc it just makes it look like it’s a toxic environment.

He better win some games down the stretch to have any hope. The Purdue loss was the nail in the coffin, he needed that one.

It's not a vote of confidence. No decision means that he could be fired. Not a shocker, but why come out and say it now? lol. Odd timing as others have said to say the least. Don't see how this helps anyone.

When the time comes, I would not be shocked to find out there was a mutual parting of ways already discussed but keeping it behind closed doors until after the season is done.

I think Carter is stating that Frost's job is not locked in for next year and they are waiting until the end of the season to address the situation... which is weird because he just addressed the situation.

In general I think Frost gets another year as long as the team doesn't quit on the coaching staff and in that respect Carter is correct in saying it won't be long before we know the direction of the future.

I hope the team plays great the next few games, finishes the remaining schedule 2-1 and Frost is here again next year.

its mindboggling.
Great -- another UNL administrator from the Harvey Perlman School of Sticking My Nose Into Everything. Memo to Ted -- you have an Athletic Director. It is said Athletic Director's job to hire and fire coaches. Shut your yap, go run the university, and let Trev do his job.

You just need some experience in corporate speak. That statement is pretty clear and not good news if you are Frost. My interpretation is how the next few games pan out and that feelers are out there. Frost if he is stays is on a very short tether.

Perhaps he's saying that IF Frost makes staff changes, player changes and other things that the University will require of him they will keep him. If Frost doesn't make the necessary changes then he will be dismissed.

You need to learn who an AD consults with on these type of manners.

It's the way it should be. A decision, whatever it is, should be made after the season has concluded. My take is that Frost still keep his job IF he wins a big upset (like beating Ohio State) but he can also lose his job if he loses all the final games. Not a lot of mystery to it.

Frost could have and should have made staff changes last season. He chose not to, now he will pay the price.Plus, who wants to work for dead man walking?

I worked in the business for over 20 years. I know quite well.
You need to learn to quit pulling those know-nothing opinions out of your ***
decisions to fire the football head coach comes from the athletic director in consultation with the Chancellor or President on each campus.

This is the first tepid language used by the University to address coach Frost and the football program.

Regents don't make the call either, but I'd be happy to speak with the same ones you did. I repeat -- you are incorrect. I am now done.
Who said Regents do? I don't speak with regents fwiw. I have other avenues to get to the horses mouth.

The president, big donors and some regents are all involved. Most are smart enough to keep their mouths shut until the AD announces the decision that was recommended by the AD and signed off by the aforementioned.

The university president of a supposed academic centered university should put up the facade that they really aren’t sure what is going on with the football program (aside from any serious off the field issues) because they have more serious matters to attend to.
