Temple isn't in a power conference and will get little respect due to a weak schedule. The gap between the haves and have nots is growing.

Will Marshall still have a football program in 5 years?

Yes Marshall will as will Temple as will Memphis as will ECU as will WVU. And the difference between the haves and have not's are growing huh , really? Ask Ole Miss , Penn State, VA Tech and Louisville about that, all power 5 teams that Memphis, Temple, and Houston has beat. And ask Mizzou who UCONN Should have beaten And Boise State seems to be doing OK as a have not

The "have nots" may win some games, but their athletic departments are bleeding money and attendance for schools not in power conferences on average is way down again this year. And in the future there will be even fewer games between the "haves" and the "have nots". At some point there may not be any games which would certainly kill a lot of programs or force them to drop down. Sadly Marshall & Temple will likely be on that list.

Only if the state keeps signing its welfare checks...

Well anyway .... despite whatever conference Temple is in, has been in, never been in, and never will be in .... they are 7-0 for the first time in history.

Congrats to the Owls!

Temple beat a baaaad PSU team due mainly to what 10 sacks given up from a Herb Hand coached PSU Oline. PSU isn't good. The rest of temples schedule is the who's who of who da heck is that and why play them.

Sadly Temple won't beat ND and it will be baaaad. I can't stand ND but they'll stomp a mud hole in Temple & walk it dry.

Btw the SOS for temple is #1 3 times over saying it kindly. Actually it is 111, that is #1 3 times over said in a very kind way.

So, you are saying that 4* recruits will come to a program that is 4-8 or 5-7 just because they are in a "big boy" conference over a school like Temple or Marshall who are not in the "big boy" conference, but will be in bowl games?????

You, my friend, are ignorant if you believe that.

And while you may be right about Temple's schedule, they will be going to a bowl game while there's a very good possibility that WVU will be at home with a 5-7 record. So, what's your point? Recruits don't like teams that do not go to bowl games. We have seasons like that over and over, and it won't be long until we are getting 2* or 3* at best athletes, and then how will we compete?

Recruits go where the $$$$$ is and to the schools paying for strippers and hookers on their visits.

Recruits do not go to schools with 20k in attendance (announced)!

I'm going to say that very few 4star recruits will go to either, but the overall pool of talent at a middling Power 5 program will usually be substantially greater.

Now, the Gof5 teams can get lucky and have all the elements needed to succeed (good coaching, an experienced roster filled with players who perform above their star grades, , luck with injuries, and a couple of transcendent performers, etc) once in a while. In those seasons they can actually be better on the field than a middling power 5 team. Over the long-term, however it won't be as sustainable, there are just too many factors that those programs need to have exist simultaneously to be even that good. And, they will never be good enough to win the national title.

We can be viewed similarly but, our range is from a little worse than the very best G0f5 teams in our down years to usually better than them, to frequently much better, all the way to capable of competing for a title when all the stars align for us. Our ceiling is higher, our floor is lower and we have more control over our destiny.

That's why we had no choice but to jump at the Big 12 offer despite it being less than ideal in so many ways.

Recruits go where they will:

1) Play
2) Be recognized
3) Have a chance to play in a bowl game

At WVU so far, only #2 is definite. If you are a QB recruit, Dana may have you playing CB or DE or WR or waterboy.

Do you know how many qb recruits play another position? The answer is most.

Why cause the qb in high school is generally best athlete on the field.

Btw let the season play out WVU will be in a bowl game.

And it ain't like the recruiting in Morgantowm has ever been top 25 year in and year out. Heck it's barely top 40 on good years. Why not not a lot of $$$$$ and not a lot of hookers and strippers.

Yes, SOME QB recruits end up at other positions. But....when your starting QB is struggling, you'd think these 4* QB recruits would see some action. Just saying.....

That 4* qb is the best WR we have. Throw him the ball. He goes up high points it.

My complaint is why didn't he play vs OK State?

In another year he may be a starting qb, but for now throw him the ball.

Where are our WR's?????? If a 4* QB recruit is better than our WR's that have been in the system for 2-3 years......well, where do we point the finger at there?????

All I can tell you is that in the last 4 seasons we've gone 21-23, 11-19 in conference, despite how great our receivers have been.

The thing about WR is. Prior to the last 4 drafts, in the 40+ years of football prior has WVU had more than 4 drafted?

I can think of J Porter (best athlete I've ever seen play ball), R Rhembert, D Buggs maybe, and Chris Henry.

The WR will come along. Just need the qb to quit throwing to the other team.
