Tennessee...about 2% of a hundred thousand UT fans have gotten the school some pub they will regret.
ESPN. The Sporting News. Yahoo News.
Thamel..on and on. Toxic fanbase. In the sewer. Somehow managed to make Lane Kiffen a sympathetic figure.

UTs biggest problem is this gives Sankey and the SEC office a black eye.
There will be fines....but if Tennessee fans think they havent got good officiating calls, they ain't seen nothing.
Tennessee is a cash cow for the league, but with Texas and Oklahoma coming, the headaches are starting to get too big.
Tennessee is in a blue tic doghouse.
Couldn't happen to a better crew.

The biggest travesty..we all knew about who they were before this came out.

You should read their thread on the other site, a large portion of their fanbase condone the actions.

Not surprised. There is a large part of Americans that have decided of late that apologizing or admitting you are wrong is a sign of weakness. Being an ahole is a virtue. Tennesseans have demonstrated they are mostly this type of person.

What was funny was lane looked on the ground and found a golf ball and picked it up and told the refs they were throwing golf balls at him... He said that on his interview after the game too... Too funny... He didn't know whether to use that hoodie or not... lol... As he went out of the stadium and under the fans, they were pouring liquids, tossing things at Kiffen... I wonder who was eating the bologna sandwich...

Yea, UT felt entitled to throw golf balls at players and coaches... They took a hissy fit, but we're supposed to be fine with that... It's healthy for them to go stark raving mad over a football call...

This might be a reason to pull selling alcohol at the stadium. Hope it isn’t something Sanke would do to others that follow the rules, or before we get approval?

I love how the beer can threw itself down there. I saw plenty of water bottles being thrown. Ban water sales too.

Tennessee's problem is they fell from grace and just can't handle it, after several coaches and a bunch of losses they are imploding and will throw anything they can get their hands on. They are tired of losing to teams they think they should beat and can't accept the fact they are just not that good.

OP is not wrong. Here’s an entire article in The Athletic dedicated to it, and here’s the final sentence:

“And time and time again, the reaction of Tennessee fans to slights and misfortune has made them losers in their rivalry with the rest of the world.”

They are truly a laughingstock.

Can't see the article, behind a paywall. Any excerpts? Sounds like a great read.

If you think there were only 2% of that 100k UT fans involved in this you must not have watched the game.

It might have been 2% that WEREN'T INVOLVED in that **** show. Maybe.

Some of those water bottle contained something other than water.

They used to throw frozen oranges at opposing fans there too.

Did you watch the game?

A fan actually hit Kiffen on the arm with a thrown golf ball on live TV. He then bent over and picked it up off the ground but it was after it had hit him first.

And I will give you one guess as to what that "liquid" was they poured on him as he left the stadium. It wasn't beer. Recycled beer.

Evidently, you haven't watched it (the game or replays). You can clearly see the golf ball strike Lane somewhere around the right elbow. Then, he bent down, picked it up, and showed it to an official.

I'm kind of glad they did this. It takes the attention away from our loss to Georgia. SEC Final even said our game was the lead story until the Vawls lost their minds. But the SEC has to do more than fine them. That does little to punish the fans. I liked an idea I saw (can't recall where) make them play their remaining home games, and all home games next year with no fans in attendance.

Some more cruel irony for the voluntears......after cheering when Corral got hurt, and then throwing a 15 minute temper tantrum....their starting QB and season savior, Hendon Hooker, suffered a severe injury (according to the UT boards) after the restart.

Look for a $500,000 fine coming this week. And will be forced to make several changes, like taking the top off of the water bottles at the Consession Stands before the sale.

Maybe it was because the beer cans were empty and the water bottles were full? Empty cans don't travel as far as a full water bottle. 😂

Because that's gonna keep these fools from throwing crap on the field. They don't give a crap about that hal a mil fine anymore than we cared about our field storming fine.

One thing that has been consistent for Tennessee is the bad behavior by their fan base. Even when they were successful they were still horrible. I remember Chris Fowler coming on ESPN in 1997 and talk about in the entire history of Heisman voting, the only time voters had ever received death threats was when Charles Woodson beat out Peyton Manning. It is baked into the DNA down there, and I don't anticipate it changing any time soon.

There is a really ugly undercurrent of seething anger in America these days, have seen it personally at two different airports, where passengers totally lost their **** at airline employees who had nothing to do with the situation, article this week in LHL referenced really awful behavior by patrons of restaurants which is not helping the employment issue. UT football crowd is just one more example. (England has been dealing with this crap for years, is it now our turn?)

And when it comes to politics and just about any public issue . . . . well, anyone can see how bad it is.

The boo everything. If a guy got hurt they would boo. They acted like it was just trying to slow the game but their players were down as much as the Ole Miss guys were. They boo everything in basketball too. They are just an insufferable fan base.

Next thing you know, people will start burning cities to the ground after legitimate police arrests. Oh wait...
.....Or attacking our Capitol, smearing feces on the walls, beating police over the heads with American flags, carrying confederate flags in the halls of Congress, and threatening to hang the U.S. Vice President because they don't like an election result. Oh wait....

The sheer volume of trash on the field after the riot shows there were hundreds if not thousands of people throwing things. Their fans will be coming to CWS in a few weeks, suggest they are searched for contraband such as batteries, golf balls, mustard bottles, etc before they are allowed to enter.
