I found this on our Vol home board and thought you might find it interesting. The state of Kentucky doesn't produce a lot of talent, but you always seem to produce good quarterbacks. I have no clue who the kid representing Kentucky as their qb is in these highlights, but he looks like he has a good future.

The state of Tennessee has been producing more and more talent. We've been having around a dozen players each class who are at least 4 stars, but we can't seem to produce any solid qb's. Five star 2018 Trevor Lawrence was born in Tennessee but moved to Georgia as a kid. I do like the looks of our RB's in this game though.

According to an interview he did with Woody, he wasn't born in Tn, was born in a northern state, can't remember which one, but moved to Tn at a very young age and then on to Cartersville. Interview was about a month ago.

It's just hard outside of Lexington and Louisville for the counties out in the hollers to field any meaningful teams. States like Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi are fortunate in that their rural populations have a high percentage of blacks. Kentucky does not. Most blacks who fled North during slavery obviously weren't going to stop 5 ft short of the finish line (aka the Ohio River.) As a result we have a very small and very rural population base in most counties and it's simply a hell of a lot easier to get enough guys to play basketball than football.

.
maybe the state of Kentucky should invest more in West Kentucky. There is far more blacks in Western Kentucky per population than in Eastern Kentucky.

economics also plays a factor going from Kentucky to Tennessee there is an absolutely huge difference in taxes. that's what makes Tennessee so attractive no state income tax

Maybe it's just living in Lexington, but it seems like the state high school basketball and baseball championships get more hype than the football one does too.

The bottom line to fix/maximiE our in state talent pool youth football needs a huge boost and real training and such needs to be starting in middle school.

That's not really the way Georgia is, there are counties in northern third of Georgia that have very few if any black population. Town near me did lose their first soccer game in 3 years this past season and was knocked out of the state playoffs. They were ranked number 1 in the country and weren't scored on last year. Another school in the same county probably has a top 5 team in the country and can't win a county championship. More people show up to watch them play than they do for pro soccer in Atlanta.

It is in your area because in west ky its football that gets the press. Guess thats because they have schools like Mayfield thats in the hunt for the title every year.

On "the other site" it says he was born in Johnson City, TN. It has 3 numbers in the name of the site. I would link the article, but I don't want to get banned.

I found the video and I was wrong, must have been a different recruit but I have no idea who it was, or I could have dreamed it I guess.

Bowling Green has been producing some major talent recently. Especially South Warren High Scool, they currently have 2 more players that have D1 offers with one Jacob Lacey who is currently top 20 in his class. Football in Bowling Green is king and between Bowling Green High, Warren Central High, and South Warren High we field some of the best teams in the state every year.

Georgia is a much bigger state population wise with over 10 million people compared to Kentucky at 4.5 million. With a little more favorable weather also.

Truthfully, outside metro Atlanta, probably near the same population, and that's where the majority of the athletes are, not all but most.

Very true. Atlanta is a booming place with athletes in every sport. IMO Georgia is a top 5 football and basketball state. The Savannah area is my favorite Georgia area. It's beautiful down there.
