my last comment to the OP... if you really want to have a good experience in the outdoors with your daughters... pick another month to go... Fall or even early winter. You have the right idea picking MC Nat. Park, and car camping... But sleeping in a tent this time of year is like being in a greenhouse... It's hot at night and "great ventilation" don't do squat when nightly temps might be in the 80's... Cave temps are the same all year round so a tour, if interested, isn't effected....... have fun.
Mammoth cave getting 80 degrees at night now? Crazy talk.

Do breakfast burritos. Very little cleanup afterwards. Just need a pot of boiling water. Put eggs in a ziplock bag. "Scramble" by hand and cook them in the pot of water. Once done cut open said bag and pour into burrito.

Air mattress is a must for YOU. Kids will be fine in sleeping bags.

My wife is a camping enthusiast and over the years I've found 25 was the maximum age one can sleep on the actual ground and not hurt in the back/hips areas the next morning.

And make sure to pack a couple extra pairs of socks, sunscreen even if cloudy and mosquito repellent.

Love doing overnight canoe trips through mammoth cave. Do several a year including a 30+mile two night trip. Always a good time!
