They won't have much trouble putting up towards the 50's against Nebraska's defense, unless Diaco has some ace scheme for next week and was just playing not to lose. Much work needed on both sides if Nebraska is to be in the game against the Ducks.

Hard to get pressure when the QB's release time is about 0.2 seconds. They actually did put some hits on the QB as the game progressed. Now why you play such soft coverage for so long is another issue entirely, of course.

The lack of pressure was due mostly to the fact that the ASU QB got the snap and threw the ball almost immediately. He didn't allow much time for NU to get pressure.

The problem was that NU's secondary and linebackers let ASU receivers run their routes uncontested most of the game. We looked confused on nearly every play. How many times did ASU throw the ball wide because they had us outnumbered? 2 against 1 or 3 against 2 - probably 20 times in the game. We also left the slant wide open a dozen times.

We made it very easy for the ASU QB to get comfortable and have a big night.

Not always. Watch it again this week.
In third and long situations we brought three far too much.
We also werent playing tight enough to eliminate the opportunity for quick hits.
On the bogus roughing penalty we brought four with some heat and he didnt have time to progress. Heaved a prayer.

Exactly, people like to put lack of pressure on the defensive line, but it's really a coverage problem. If the quarterback has open receivers immediately, you're not going to get pressure no matter how good your defensive line is.

The real problem with the defense was we had 4 linebackers for almost the entire game trying to cover 4 receivers. If the other team comes out with 4 receiver sets, you have to match up in either a nickel or dime and I don't understand why we didn't do this. The other problem was we were outmanned many times having a guy trying to cover 1v2 or 2v3. I don't see why we couldn't have the safety shift over to that side and we could have covered the flats and the slant at the same time since that's what we were having the most problems with.
