Cannot figure out they don't have a really good team every year. Highly rated recruiting classes, great facilities and fan support, tons of money to spend, top heavy conference. Spent a ton to get THE hot coaching name at the time in Hermann. Yet, they seem to be above average while garnering preseason hype every year. Are they ever going to figure it out?

I worked in Austin for two years - including the year they won it all - that city cares more about the Dallas Cowboys than the Texas Longhorns.

<- - - - Resided 22 years in ATX.

I was in Iraq when the Horns won it all against USC in the Rose Bowl. Incidentally, Gene Chizik served as Horn's DC that season.

UTexas is a strange case. Tons of instate talent, including numerous 4/5 stars. Local talk radio, KLBJ (Lady Bird Johnson's former station), rags on Tom Herman constantly. I'm currently visiting SEKY area, but can only imagine their savage reaction next week to this Horns loss against the visiting Cyclones. Urban Meyer's name comes up often as Herman's possible successor. Doubt Meyer takes the job even though he criticizes UTexas relentlessly.

Herman is a definite upgrade from Charlie Strong. His record (30-18/21-13 Big-12) indicates as much. Because we're in a "COVID season", I think he stays at least another season if he wins out.

I've always like The Longhorns, I guess it goes back to when I was a kid watching Darrell Royal's offenses running over everyone with the wishbone. I like the unis, I like Bevo, great fan base, just a cool program IMO. It is a mystery why a program with so much hasn't done any better in the last decade or so.

Lived 6 years in Austin, they care as much about their Horns fball as we do about our Cats bball.

It is an interesting situation. Largest public university in the country, huge alumni base, tons of booster money, best recruiting base in the nation, passionate fans, top notch facilities.

Somehow their administrative has not been able to move past Mack Brown successfully. It boggles the mind.

It is not quite IU bball scenario as UT is still relevant, but for the fanbase, it is very painful.
