The pieces all fell into place nicely and in quick fashion - Strong out, Herman in. The wheels were obviously in motion days before, and the whole Herman to LSU thing was just a bargaining maneuver.

This will probably happen. But I've lost all faith in ESPN reporting on these job openings.so until there's a puts u conference, I'll consider it all theoretical.
And Herman's handlers played the media for fools with the LSU thing. Smokescreen they choked on.
You know, I had flashbacks to the Les Miles to Michigan Pat Forde report right after posting.
In this case, seems to make too much sense not to happen.
He's gonna have a nice roster to work with at UT. And he will develop a QB. They will be a dangerous team. The other Stoops just pooped in his pants a lil bit I'd imagine.
Wasn't this entirely predictable? I don't get many of these things right, but I told my son when the Herman to LSU story broke it smelled like a ploy and that he'd end up at Texas. The only reason not to go to Texas, as good as the LSU job is perceived to be, is that Texas is apparently high in disfunction right now, the athletics department is a mess. But if there's one place more dysfunctional than Texas, it's LSU. So no reason at all to take LSU over UT, especially for a coach that's lived in Texas for over a decade.
Herman to LSU just made zero sense, other than as a bargaining tactic....
It was the obvious and best hire Texas could have made. Now it would be great to see Stoops demote Elliot to DLine coach and some how convince Strong to be your D coordinator.
Also the Calipari/Saban playbook to get annual raises. Have agent float rumor, athletic director pees pants, cash check ... repeat.
LSU has already named Orgeron permanent head coach. Petrino likely to remain at Louisville unless some other high profile job opens up.
