I ate at Black's just last month and have eaten at Luling City Market. Both were great.

Burn Co., in Tulsa, is better than either.

Shocked to see Black's and Smitty's off the list. WOW! Love those places, even better than Kreuz.

Good to see Austin and central Texas dominating the list as it should. Tip of the cap to the Germans and Czech immigrants who brought their tradition of smoking meats to the hill country in the mid 19th century.

I have to get out to Micklethwait soon.

List is garbage if they chose Kruez over Smitty's. Finally went the last week and it was fantastic.

Hold your horses now smokey joe ... almost comparing apples and oranges. Totally different styles. Preferring one I can see, but saying one is better than the other is a pretty bold statement.

That being said, I like burnco a lot. Luling is like going back in time and that adds to the experience. Haven't been to Black's in austin.

Really want to get to Snow's next time I'm in the vacinity. 80 year old female pit master ... pretty cool.

I know it's sacrilege, but I'm not blown away by anything in Lockhart. Another that's perennially on the list that I don't really get is Cooper's. Again ... cool experience, but it wasn't really memorable.

I ate at Black's in Lockhart about two weeks ago and thought it was amazing. I was there with a guy from South Texas who raves about Cooper's in Llano and he was not impressed with Black's. I've eaten at Cooper's in Fort Worth and didn't find it to be anything special. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I've eaten at a place called Vincek's smokehouse in East Bernard, TX a few times and it's awesome. It didn't make this list this year but it has in the past.

Eve Mae's is a new comer and awesome. If you are ever in Lubbock it is a must. Pecan Lodge in Dallas is the best in DFW. Central Texas is the clear leader in BBQ.

Cattleack BBQ is a quarter mile from where I work.

It's ranking is very well deserved.

I'm in Lubbock several times a year and I've yet to make it. Only open for lunch and out in Wolfforth makes it tough. Gonna get it done though. Speaking of Lubbock, the shack is pretty good too.

My counterpart in Dallas loves it. He likes pecan lodge a lot, but he thinks Cattleack is the better.

I saw Heim was on the list. We stopped, as it's right off 35W in Fort Worth, on our way to Austin. Waited in line almost an hour. I liked it a ton. Wife liked it less than I did, but to be fair she's less a fan of Texas style barbecue than I am. We can both highly recommend the bacon burnt ends though. Might be the best thing I've ever eaten. They were smokey, salty, sweet ... just a total flavor bomb.

Edited for article with pic of said burnt ends
