I don't think he's saying that. But the guys I grew up with had a community where parents watched out for each other. Families mattered. The more government tried to help, the less the traditional roles of family to take care of each other, went downward. That wasn't just in the black community. There is, or at least should be, a difference between a safety net, and a reliant lifestyle. When government does things, the corruption increases. And the political favors give more power to those who want more control.

It didn't work in the Soviet Union, and if we are so unfortunate that socialists win, our nation will be on the road to self destruction.

Well it sure sounded like it and he would probably have a point. Blacks and whites both have more kids and don't get married because they think it makes sense economically. I've seen it with my own two eyes. For some reason it does seem to be worse among blacks, but the breakdown of the family across the board is a major problem in society. Do they want to talk about that??? No...its much more popular to blame someone else.

I have begun a serious search for another country in which to retire. This one is gone, and there's no coming back.

Retirement: I highly recommend Panama.

It's on the short list. If you have some firsthand knowledge, I would be grateful for the information. Also looking at Portugal, Costa Rica, and after living in Mexico for the past couple of years, it's on the list as well. Still researching, though - I have about four years to decide, unless things get so bad that I go ahead and pull the plug early.

I realize approximately 235 black people were shot to death by the police in 2019; approximately 370 white people.

And I believe only 11 of them were unarmed in 2019. We need to realize the true statistics.
11 unarmed black men were killed by police in 2019. 5 of those 11 are recorded as charging and physically fighting with the police. I get those accounts could be bogus, so I'm not saying they did, but I have to work with the data I have in front of me... Of the remaining 5 or 6 that were both unarmed and not fighting with the cops, 4 of those resulted in the cops being prosecuted. Again, the prosecution probably didn't match the crime, so I'll give anyone that bias too.
I think only 1 or 2 cop killings of unarmed black men went unprosecuted in 2019.

Guess how many happened in 2015? 38.

We're really slipping backwards, aren't we?

What we have today is a camera in every person's hands, and cloud capabilities, so the videos are out there immediately and can't be scrubbed from the device. We are bringing every little detail front and forward. It's not worse than it was before... We are just having to face the truth now - because the truth is transparent.

20 years ago 100 criminal murders by police could go unnoticed. Today, not a single police murder can go unnoticed, and we're better for that. It's a little ignorant to assume we're getting worse though. We just see the cases today.
