2) IMO I think Rice was still the better team but overall the Marist coach lost it for them.
a) You are 4th and 2 at midfield end of the 3rd down 17-7 and instead of putting Rice deep they get cute. Rice goes on to score a TD that was called back on a somewhat phantom call but hey that's football. Still you punt and put Rice deep then they do their typical conservative play and punt back but you have good field position.
b) You get the ball back with 3 mins and 2 timeouts at your own 26 after rolling Rice on prior series and cutting it to 17-14. Stick with the winning formula? NOPE - lets go passing. Then not having any hurry up play calling so you piss away a ton of time.
3) Rice's Shaw and Marist Watkins are very nice RBs. Shaw should have played more - the can run inside and out - the other RBs for Rice were read like Dr Seuss books by Marist D - who pinched and stuck them on the predictible runs up middle.
4) Marist should still make the playoffs but being 2-2 and still having to play LA, MC and one other tough team is not going to be easy.
