I don’t understand the hate for him that dorks like you have. Yeah, he failed to get the job done, but he did a lot of good as well.
You had me at “he failed to get the job done”

Dork? Holy hell, you must be a real winner or just a immature idiot

Just trying to live up to the wonderful immature example you set with your posts.

And the fact that he didn’t get the job done doesn’t justify the hate. You act like he finger banged your girl.

The conversation was about PSU recruiting the area and you questioned the quality of the players PSU has gotten from the area. You sure can twist things any way you want though. Have at it. You’re right. You win the keyboard tonight. Bravo.

It’s a fact based opinion based on recent players and especially five star players. Point is they haven’t and won’t make or break a team. I’d trade VA for locking down PA.

That’s a naive and outdated opinion. The amount of high quality talent from PA goes down every year. It isn’t the 70’s or 80’s anymore. If PSU wants to succeed with the big boys, they have to recruit nationally or at least within a bigger region than PA, NJ, and OH. Is a fact based opinion like “fuzzy math” or alternative facts”?

So was 2009.
2009 included their annual losses to Iowa and OSU and a Charmin soft OOC schedule. They only beat one ranked team all year and that was the bowl game at the end of the season. They got embarrassed on prime time national TV by getting ragdolled by Iowa.

2008 was better too.

Not better too. 2008 was better. 2005 was better. 2009 was not better. Coincidentally all of those seasons included loses to OSU, Michigan, and Iowa at some point. Seems to be a long term problem at PSU.

We crushed scum 35-10 and 46-17 in 2008 and 2009. Losing to Iowa during that stretch was bad. Never should have happened. OSU is what it is.

Yes, finally beating Michigan again was good after losing 9 in a row to them. I was at the 2008 game, unfortunately, sitting in the Michigan section. PSU was a 20+ point favorite. Michigan hung around and may have had the lead in the first half. I had to listen to chants of “We own…Penn State”’ from those clowns. As well as, them yelling they couldn’t believe the point spread for THAT team. When Royster and Green broke long runs to put PSU way ahead, I yelled “There’s your point spread” at them. They got a little quieter after that.

I was never more in love with a coach than when James would only lose to one or the other of those teams (Ohio State/Michigan).

Losing to both in the 4 team era was always the death knell. 08 and 05 would have been in a 4 team playoff precisely because they didn’t get swept by them and the loss to Iowa was absorbed easily because they weren’t at the top of the standings with Penn State.

As I’ve said a million times, it’s better to lose to Purdue or Iowa and beat the best than lose to the best and beat Purdue and Iowa because it still gets you where you need to go. That’s regardless of coach.

Good read and reminder for our new VT fans here.

And Virginia Tech just hired a head coach whose track record suggests he’s among the worst in the country at managing a game.

Year after year, it’s been a major issue for Franklin. And it reaches all the way back to his very first game at Penn State against UCF when his bizarre refusal to use his timeout during a two-minute drill nearly cost the Nittany Lions an opportunity to kick a winning field goal.

From that moment all the way until his final game against Northwestern, Franklin was on the defensive at one press conference after another about his play-calling, his decision-making and how he managed various situations.

The criticism and second-guessing wasn’t unfair, either.

A 4-21 record against top-10 opponents doesn’t happen by accident.

Ultimately, it cost him one of the best jobs in college football. Now he’ll have to do it at a program with fewer resources and natural advantages. Penn State was usually the second or third-most talented team in the Big Ten. It will take a monumental recruiting and NIL effort to put Virginia Tech on that talent tier in the ACC.

Relative to mid-season firings and hirings EVERYTHING has changed just look around college football everyone looking to make a change is doing it midseason.

And yet, nobody has any interest in hiring any of these other fired coaches except Franklin, who was hired as a HC at a P4 school a month and one-half removed from his termination at PSU. It's unprecedented in FBS football - your post is completely irrelevant to this subject.

FWIW, LSU offered Kelly $30mm - and was willing to drop the mitigation clause - but he refused. PSU got Franklin to $9mm and are suckers for paying it. He’s easily going to make more than his buyout at VT.

That's not true - there has been no information released yet regarding the compensation at VaTech. Franklin's contract is an annual guarantee, so you're saying he will easily make more per year at VaTech than he was making at PSU (something on the order of $9 million per year). What's that based on precisely?

Thank goodness for RichRod. It was 4 in a row, but not in consecutive years. PSU did not play Michigan in 2011 or 2012. BO’B beat Michigan in 2013 in the infamous OT Whiteout game to make it the fourth win in a row against Michigan.
And not all against Rich Rod but you knew that.

Talking about the recruiting in Maryland, it’s not just Montgomery and Prince Georges County. Penn State has been able to get into Southern Maryland and get guys like Rasheed Walker and of course that’s where they got Larry Johnson from. They also have a tremendous pipeline at McDonough high school a private just north of Baltimore.

IMO, there’s a strong chance this doesn’t work out well.

Need to get into St. Frances Academy, and the next big time private in the DMV, the St.James School.

You have issues. Franklin lives rent free in your head. You spend hours every day here bashing him. Does that make you feel better Donny? Get a life and move on.
Not really.

You discredited coaches for being able to beat those guys. Well if it’s that easy, no?

Do you always get personal when discussions, and your contradictions, get pointed out? It’s just discourse, what people used to do in barber shops or at diners. Maybe it’s a generational thing, never being able to admit fair points and instead thinking everything is personal.

Works both ways Donny. I didn’t discredit anyone, but if you think the Michigan program was the same after Carr left, then you weren’t paying attention. You Franklin haters have some major double standards. Are you going to move to the VT boards now to trash him there? Should be good fun for you. For the record, I was having a reasonable conversation with pendal, not you.

I mean you did say RR sucked and Hoke did as well just slightly less.

All of which was 100% accurate. So then, like Paterno and O’Brien showed, should be easy to beat. After all, you discredited their successes.
