I don't know what Harry Reid has to do with it. That "poll" asked a grand total of 504 people -- according to the local Fox channel, that's less than .1 of 1 percent of Native Americans. Meaning, it's total ********.
Isn't that was most polls are? A sample size? It's not total BS, it's another case of the PC police run amok.
I don't know how well the poll was conducted but polls conducted properly can have incredible power. About 130 million people voted for POTUS in 2012. If you poll 1,300 people that would be 0.001% but if you did it well you'd have a 95% chance of getting it correct to within 3-4 points.
I heard someone on the radio this morning make a good point. What counts as "Native American?" Some are full, some 1/2, some 1/4, etc. It would be interesting to see how the opinion varies across subgroups.
It would be interesting to add that category, namely the people that are 0% Native American.
On the x-axis is the percent Native American the responder is and it goes from 0 to 100. On the y-axis is the percent that are offended by the name. It would be interesting to see that line or curve or whatever it would be.
I rarely use cluster analysis and I don't know much about it, under that name at least. I'm more thinking of stratified sampling.
And in addition to much of your blood is Native American it would be interesting to see results by how integrated or not integrated you are into mainstream US society. What would the difference of opinion be between someone that is in mainstream society but has part Native American ancestry compared to someone that is a full Native American and lives on a reservation?
Looks like polling rules have changed since I studied statistical surveying (it has been a few years) -- in those olden days we were taught that the sample had to be at least 1440 to be valid within plus or minus 5 percent. Now it's down to 384 regardless of population size. I stand corrected, and here's a link to the complete survey. (But I still don't see how Harry Reid figures into it)

What is wrong with the word when used in the correct context. I used it as a descriptive adjective for years without upsetting the recipient. Then I use it appropriately on this liberal board and get blackballed. If you cocksuckers don't like the free advertising, refrain from bragging about the practice by yourself or the friends you seek to speak for. Gee it is not difficult. One of our associates bragged about being a better and more experienced than the self avowed, Knox. He actually boasted for weeks on end, and then when I label him as such, I get inappropriate feedback. That's OK, I quit the practice until I get an unfriendly reminder out of the blue. That may or may not get a response - depending on slowness of the day.
