That 7th inning might just haunt us.

That was a heartbreaking loss. Tough to rebound in a few hours.
UNC has done this 3 times already since the regional/super regionals started. They just seem like a team of destiny right now.

Got to find a way to rebound tomorrow. Backs against the wall.

Underdogs don’t come back from **** like that. Hope I’m wrong but I wouldn’t be surprised if we lost by 10 tomorrow. They needed to pull away in the 7th, but still giving up 3 against the bottom of the lineup in that spot just says we are outclassed, and with our ace out of the way UNC is probably gonna shell us. Regardless this team should be proud of its accomplishment. This program has accomplished more than I ever thought possible, they will be back in this spot again sooner not later.

Where's the cutoff between sooner and later?

I'm not sure how good UNC's Poston is supposed to be, but his stuff wasn't all that great when we came in during the 7th. Our guys were chasing after sinking pitches that were already too low the moment the ball left his hand.

Idk, all I know is we went 21 years in between NCAA appearances to making the tournament fairly regularly. So I don’t think it will take lifetimes to get back to this point again, and I’d say we’re more likely to be back within 5 years rather than 20.

Last year Potson was a stud. This year he wasn’t great. But his change up was devastating. When you throw 95+ and can throw a change up, you are going to get hitters to chase down in the zone.

Here’s an example. Tennessee hosted approximately 20 portal players for their super regional game yesterday. Before Tony Vitale showed up a few years ago, the UT baseball program was in a major drought. If I’m not mistaken, they went 15 years between between regional appearances until Vitale showed up and injected some fire in to that program. He pissed off a lot of people in the SEC with his methods, but he didn’t care. And now they are a powerhouse.

Can Sabbins continue what Mazey has begun to develop? I think he can. He’s got a lot of respect throughout the baseball community. But he’s got to be able to recruit the type of players needed to win consistently. He’s already an excellent recruiter, but he’s got to take that next step.
