That was a perfectly acceptable win

Chase hit half his shots for the first time since January.

Nance scored 20 points for the first time since January.

Is it a coincidence that both Nance and Chase had five dimes? Probably, but it’s Chase’s season-high, and indicates that he was focused on moving the ball if a good shot wasn’t there. I like that a lot. Chase also had three steals.

Berry made a cool behind the back pass with some English on it for a Boo three.

Nebraska drew several fouls early in the second half, but NU held strong when the Huskers got in the bonus.

Nebraska is also quite bad. Three straight 20-loss seasons is tough to do.

Friday’s game at PSU is huge. PSU will be favored. If NU wins Friday against PSU or Monday against Iowa (far less likely, I’d imagine), NU will post a winning record in February.

It’s not much, but it’s something.

Seems like Nebraska has to fire Hoiberg. He’s been there three years and they’ve finished last in the Big 10 each year. And this year’s team will probably end up with one conference win. Even worse, he can’t point to improvement next year because his two best players (McGowens and Verge) are most likely leaving. So unless they hit the jackpot in the transfer portal, they’ll be even worse next year.

I'm still ok with an overall .500 record, but it looks unlikely. We play a team that beat us, a team that's better than us, a team that crushed us, and a team that beats us 75% of the time (any 1st round BTT opponent). More likely we lose-out than win 2 of the remaining four, but, that's why they play 'em.

Separately, I often see people say things like "we've got to avoid playing on the first day of the BTT!!"...Why? Other than pride, I'd rather have them play a team that they might beat vs one that will surely beat us. Finish 11th, somehow, beat Neb again, somehow, then take our annual beating.

Maybe they need to lower their admission standards.

His buyout is allegedly $18.5 million. Makes you feel grateful for Collins!

Hoiberg is 10 times the disaster CC is. That is a joke of a team.

I even doubt he talks about defense, period. The effort is atrocious, the defense of screens and pick and rolls is a joke, the help when so often beat off the dribble is pathetic.

To make things worse, it is obvious they have checked out. Which is pretty much every year for Hoiberg in Lincoln, demonstrated by the fact he has turned over pretty much the entire roster every year.

It's not like top to bottom they have a strong roster, but a first round pick, who has actually lived up to the hype, and a couple more decent players in Verge and Walker can do significantly better than what they are doing.

It's not like I watched their games, but seeing his work with the Bulls and UNL, how in the world was he successful at IA St?

Hoiberg hit the transfer portal before it was a thing and got a couple of great players to come to Ames including a guy who washed out of Minnesota, (Royce White?) He also knows how to coach offense. Defense, not so much. I saw Armon Gates, our former assistant, trying to coach their defense several times during the game last night.

I watched the handshake line. Gates got a great hug.

I was disappointed with Hoiberg’s handshake quality.

I thought one was a Frosh. But I think there are two McGowens

The only reason to avoid playing on the first day is that if you get to the finals you will have to palay 5 games in 5 days. and your opponent likely fewer

Replying to myself is poor form, but Chase managed zero assists and 12 missed shots last night. Seems like he should be coached to play differently, and should be rewarded with playing time based on how he plays. He’s a good player. He’d be a really good player if he were coached better.
