That Was So Typical That It's Becoming Laughable

Where have we seen this before? Good ranked opponent. Down early. Furious comeback to take a decent lead in the 5-8 minutes left range. Then tightness, other team's guys (sometimes their stud, sometimes a random guy) steps up. We get nervous, miss a few free throws, get out of our offense into one man last second shot clock bad shots. Collins frenetic. And then we lose.

It's the same story again... and again... and again. For years.

I was watching with my in-laws who don't watch a lot of 'Cat games. They were saying "Wow -- Northwestern could win." I replied "Sorry... I've seen this movie before. Here's what will happen." And it did.

Speaking of that sort of thing...
With about 3 minutes to go, I told my wife, I just have this feeling that Buie is going to hit a three pointer at the buzzer...

Not what I was hoping for, but it definitely happened...

I was thinking Buie was going to turn it over or make a stupid play in crunch time.

This team is so close, if only they could get instruction on how to close.

Or maybe get super star player and have him handle those last couple of possessions. You know, like BBJ. Although I have a feeling that others like him wouldn't get past admissions.

You think if we lower admissions standards the five stars would automatically flock to NU? Dream Rant on. We've offered a bunch of 5 and high 4 stars over the years.

Why does anybody think we would get 5 star players if we had no admission standards at all?
Its crazy talk.

The 5-stars go to the top coaches, the top programs, the top basketball schools or in Bruce Pearl's case, the school that gives them anything they ask for.

We wouldn’t get 5 stars with no admissions standards. That is true. Maybe get a few other guys we might not be able to get. However, if we get a top 30 recruit ever I would be astonished. Why would they pick NU? Try and get a few more top 100-150.

I do think we would get higher rated recruits with lower admission standards, but I don't think that is the problem at this point. I honestly believe a different coach would be able to get more out of the players we currently have. I am not talking about physical effort, because I think these player fight hard every game, but I think a different coach would have them making smarter decision at the ends of games.

Your reasoning assumes the players we have.
