Not a religious act? Who is she kidding?

Speaking to reporters Friday after the announcement of the death sentence decision for Boston bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz made certain to clarify for Americans that Islam had nothing to do with the Tsarnaev brothers' terrorism:

Even in the wake of horror and tragedy, we are not intimidated by acts of terror or radical ideals...

Make no mistake. The defendant claimed to be acting on behalf of all Muslims. This was not a religious crime, and it certainly does not reflect true Muslim beliefs. It was designed to intimidate and coerce the United States...

The defendant was an adult who came to believe in an ideology of hate, and he expressed those beliefs by killing, maiming, and mutilating innocent Americans on Patriots Day.

Hate is not an ideology or radical ideal or belief. Until and unless our officials are willing to identify the ideology behind Tsarnaev's hate, then Americans will continue to see more horror and tragedy like the bombing in Boston.

Seems to me that we play a game of trying to keep innocent people of the Muslim faith safe from reprisals for acts of the radicals while trying to watch those who are radicalizing and radicals who are trying to get here as closely as possible.

It seems to me that if we do not name the enemy which is radical Islam then there will be no pressure within the Islamic community to deal with their own problems. We need for the moderate Muslims to get control of those people with in their own faith and we cannot do that if we don't recognize that reality.

So, if you want to pin the radical Islamic views, beliefs and acts as representative of ALL Muslims then you must believe Jim Jones and David Koresh represent ALL Christians.

Christians widely condemned both cults, although many thought that Koresh and his cult did not deserve to die the way that they did. However, polls have shown that approximately 25% of Muslims agree with ISIS. That figure is extraordinarily high and certainly cannot be considered a cult. Until moderate Muslims take on this battle, ISIS will continue to kill to advance their cause. Telling moderate Muslims that ISIS is not part of Islam, let's them off the hook from self policing. The Egyptian President agrees with me, btw.
