Yesterday I listened to a podcast. During the podcast someone mentioned a book. To be clear, the book wasn't written by anyone on the podcast or connected to the podcast but rather was a book one of the people on the podcast said he was in the process of reading.

Then today I get an e-mail from Amazon trying to sell me the book. That is kinda scary. If they can do that then I can see how they'd use things you say inside your own home as a means of marketing to you, especially if you have Siri or Alexa listening to you 24/7. I mean, those things are always listening, aren't they? It's getting a little too Big Brother-y for my taste.

Kind of to be expected. I once searched my email account for a client's email address and later saw an ad for them on Facebook. I shouldn't have been surprised, but I was. I mean I was only searching my email account, not a Google or Bing search. Oh well. I welcome our new computer overlords.

I have had discussions at the house about movies with the wife only to get alerts that the movie we discussed is available on Prime. Ive read many similar stories

My wife texted me the other day about something we were looking to buy (I don't remember what) and an hour later an add was coming up on FB for the very thing we only texted about. The only thing I can think of is she searched for it, FB then gave me the add due to relationship. My other theory is that Messenger is listening to text messages. I don't have FB on my phone either.
