Unfortunately, you need an actual coach to make the adjustments you mention -- I used to think Pope at least had coaching acumen and just couldn't get good players, but tonight made me question the coaching bit as well. Just embarrassing.

Vogel would have been interesting, for sure. Could have brought the culture / dynamic Chris Young has brought to BYU. He has even more rep as a title winner who coached LeBron. Who knows, maybe we land Dybantsa and Wilson, get Yaxel and Wilkerson in portal.
lol Mitch is a lazy POS and a yes man to UK administration. Every hire is absolutely lazy. He was not allowed to hire our new football coach, was not allowed to talk to Cal in that search. Hired Joker even after Brooks said he wasn’t ready. Brooks and Stoops both reached out to Mitch first for job. And gave 2 stupid contracts. He’s the worst AD ever, and deserves to be belittled

UK will win some games this season, but it’s obvious this roster was built incorrectly.
We’ve got a group of players who were secondary players last season, entered the portal and were over valued and over paid. These players are trying too hard to make a final push to get on draft boards and it’s created a selfish, poor shooting team with chemistry issues.

Way too many people over reacting for this early in the season when we still have not played a single game with anywhere close to our complete roster.
We will most likely never see the total team. If so it will be too late for a bid. 12-15 losses coming.

I don't get where people say Pope was a "safe" hire. I think it was the opposite. It was a risky hire and may be a terrible one, in the end. What I think it was, is an "easy" hire. No chance he'd say no and it got the monkey off Mitch's back.

I will admit I missed big time on POPE. I wanted squid gone soo bad and I bought off on all of this number 9 stuff.
The guy is completely lossed super nice but super soft andwhether it be in game coaching, Calamari like, or his team building It’s a disaster.
This team literally is a hodgepodge of non shooting, lack of ball handling and toughness that I have ever seen.

No one is overreacting. They are just reacting to what they see. Throw the scores out the window and the results. Just watch the team play then watch other top 20 teams play. There's no comparison. You cannot watch UK play and see anything but a team that doesn't belong. Poorly coached on both ends. Poor rebounding on both ends. Players not in shape.

Of course it would help to have Lowe and JQ. But those two are not changing the whole dynamics of a dysfunctional team. Lowe is niot a defender either. JQ is supposed to be. But he can't guard 5 guys.
But, in last night's game just having one of them out there is probably enough to win. Against UL and Mich St it would not have mattered with both out there.
