Of course they do. Calculus? No. Basic algebra? 100% yes. They also need to be taught how to balance a checkbook and budget a household.
Maybe a re-evaluation of who is include when computing this 'average' of which you speak. Sample size and selection plays a major role in such computations.Suggest a better job be done in both areas so as to not spew meaningless nonsense.
