I haven't seen anything on the WWS / WN game. WWS impressed this summer. And isn't this the year WN has been pointing to with multiple three-year varsity starters, including the QB? Who wins this one?

Hard to pick a favorite for the reasons you cited. Both will be stronger this year. Still think GN and the Valleys are the teams to beat in the DVC. Expect a low scoring game.

Tough game to call. Coin flip.

A lot of DVC matchups will be like that.

If I was forced to make a pick - I guess I would go with Wheaton north.
1. I like their QB
2 it's at Wheaton North.

I still think one of these teams wins a share of the DVC title I'm just not sure which one. From a pure talent stand point WN has the edge but it's close and WWS owns such a big mental edge on them. I guess I'll just be a homer and take WWS 33-30 in a shoot out.

I believe that in the “old DVC” these two team would fall in anywhere from 2 – 4 in terms of conference rankings and would be sure bets to make the playoffs. But now they will be fighting for their playoff lives. The conference realignment as well as the current trend of declining numbers has really hurt these two programs, especially WN, which I believe this the lowest enrollment school in the current DVC.

As for this game, I think that WWS wins in a close one. Critical matchup for both teams, but especially for WN. And with Joliet Catholic in week 2 an 0-2 start might be looming for the Falcons.

One thing that will interesting is the offense for WWS has stunk for the last few years but this year Muhitch is no longer calling the plays, the new offensive coordinator called a really nice game during 7 on 7. I will be interested to see if it translates to a regular game and Muhitch can get thru a game without calling plays.

After winning the Red Grange Classic in 2015, Wheaton North did not perform well in 2016. I watched Aurora Christian beat WN 2x at Red Grange this summer.

I know it's only 7on7 but gotta go with WWS.

Can anyone that was at the Battle of Wheaton provide any color comebtary? Was the game closer than the final score would indicate? ScoreStream had the game very close thru the 3rd quarter but the final score was 36-21. Scorestream is nortoriously inaccurate - so was hoping for some thoughts on how this game played out.

WWS lead 14-12 at half and WN lead 22-21 the end of 3 quarters, Wn punch in a score with 2 mins left to put the game away.

The difference in the game was WN ran two kickoff ls back to the 7 & 13 off WWS that led to 10 points with touchdown being in the last 30 seconds of the 1st half. Both of theses teams were much improved from last year and will cause people problems.

WWS is breaking in a new coaching staff so I'm thinking the players and the coaching will improve, hopefully it's soon enough to make the playoffs.

Very entertaining game. Special teams definitely played a huge role in this one, however; I found the play calling to be really interesting. I thought WWS could’ve run the ball effectively throughout the game but they seemed to abandon the run in the second half. I know the fact that WN had the lead dictated some of that, but WWS seemed to have the size advantage in the trenches (WN nose guard is 170lbs) and ran the ball well in the first half. WN, on the other hand, was very efficient with their run game but average passing the ball (4 dropped passes that I can remember). Stuck with the run throughout the game and seemed to have the Tiger defense gassed late in the game.

Game Balls:

WWS: Cam Moore – Was the offense for WWS. Over 100 yards receiving, threw for a TD, and had a nice kick return.

WN: Sam Singleton – Ran the ball extremely hard, over 100 yard rushing, and carried the ball 10 straight times on a TD drive late in the game to put the Falcons ahead by two scores.

Looking ahead:

WWS: Who is going to step up on offense to compliment Cam Moore?

WN: Will WN stick with the run game in week two against Joliet Catholic?
