Not even close...again, are you too old that you don't have kids that received them?Being chosen to make the playoffs without winning anything is a participation trophy.

If you want to mirror the FCS format you're gonna need to hand out more autobids to G5 conference champs. That's something none of the people in charge seem willing to do.Because 24 works great for FCS and we should be mirroring that.
And, we agree, I'm all for a super-conference with the Big Ten/SEC and the 12-16 team playoff they would create. But some of the things that made college football great to many (bowl games for example) are outdated. They just don't have the same meaning now.
Give everyone (conferences) the same access != current setup is the most access any team has ever hadThe current setup is actually the most access any team has ever had. How many undefeated seasons did we produce with less than 1% chance to play for the title? '68, '69, '73. Heck. Go back to '94 and we plowed through the Big 10 (believe it was the first undefeated regular season a Big 10 team accomplished since '68 Buckeyes) and couldn't even get a split vote between the polls (even though they had just done split Champs in the 5 years prior twice).
The biggest problem with the current playoff is the incorporating of the bowls after 1st round games. We don't need that. Play at the higher seed and be done with it.
I'd be ok with that providing that espn had zero input on any computer rankings or power rankings that would determine the top 8.If you are not in the top 8 you have no claim to a championship. It should have gone to 8 and stopped there.
Boohoo, so and so is livid. When you expand to 24 teams, the 25th team will be livid. When you expand to 64 teams, the 65th will be livid. Do better in your conference and win your games and it's not an issue. If you put a format like this is place you put the pressure on the conferences to make sure they have a scheduling format in place to identify their best teams. That resolves so many of the scheduling disparity issues between conferences and makes it easier to identify who is the best in each conference, then you settle the conference vs conference arguments on the field. With this format you could even expand to more conference games played to better ensure a more accurate conference standing. So, out of curiosity--I ran your 16 team playoff--it's rough--maybe 3 per conference I could get buy in because you'd have
AAC: Army (1)
ACC: Clemson (2) and SMU (3)
Big XII: Arizona State (4) and Iowa State (5)
Big Ten: Oregon (6) and Penn State (7)
CUSA: Jacksonville State (8)
IND: Notre Dame (9)
MAC: Ohio (10)
MWC: Boise State (11)
SEC: Texas (12) & Georgia (13)
SB: Marshall (14)
I have no idea how we'd reasonably get two more
You add a third Big Ten (Ohio State) and SEC (Tennessee) I'd be content though Indiana is livid with Iowa State and SMU getting in over them.
Yes, I want all conferences to get an auto bidIf you want to mirror the FCS format you're gonna need to hand out more autobids to G5 conference champs. That's something none of the people in charge seem willing to do.
If you want better football why do you watch NCAA instead of the NFL?
But who do you reasonable put in if you don't give the Big Ten and SEC 3 teams?Boohoo, so and so is livid. When you expand to 24 teams, the 25th team will be livid. Is it different than our run last year? If we beat Notre Dame then we play 5 with the CCG which won't exist in this new format.28 team playoff means 5 games for some teams. That's half a season.
No, you haven't.What are you talking about? I've proved you wrong multiple times
He didn't have to enter the portal by the 28th. That was a false statement you made.
Penn State's team rule of once you enter the portal you can't play is why he was gone.
I'm sorry you don't know anything about football and can't accept you're wrong.
The answer is "yes".No, you haven't.
You said Pribula was forced out by a team rule. You are wrong.
It's this simple: Did Pribula leave when he did due to a team rule, yes or no?
Answer's "no", chief. Franklin, himself, said that you are wrong. But I guess you know better than the head coach of the team, right?
If you want to argue that there's nuance to this topic-- that there was no reason Pribula had to leave when he did, he could have stayed through the playoff run...? Fine. I would even agree with that. It's a confusing situation that doesn't seem like it made sense for anyone involved.
It does seem reasonable to suggest that Beau and Franklin placing the blame on the NCAA portal rules is misguided. I think Franklin's perspective is that the portal shouldn't open at all until the playoffs are over because it's too much of a distraction. I don't know. The situation seems very muddled.
It would mean possibly 5 more games instead of 4 more games. Is it different than our run last year? If we beat Notre Dame then we play 5 with the CCG which won't exist in this new format.
It also would be rare those playing in the first round make a final.
I don't know about team rules but I'm confident that Pribula left when he did because Allar said he was coming back. Pribula wanted to start somewhere for 2 years and teams were already accepting transfers and making NIL deals. The longer he waited the fewer opportunities would be available to him.Again, you're wrong
College football transfer portal: Winter window closed Dec. 28, but exceptions keep player movement alive - CBSSports.com
Key exceptions to the deadline
Players involved in postseason play have extra time to enter the portal. Any athlete participating in a bowl game or playoff has a five-day window to enter the portal after their season ends. For instance, players in Jan. 1 bowl games have until Jan. 6, while those in the Jan. 20 national championship game have until Jan. 25.
How did Wallace leave? How did Evans leave? Both in January

Just because you want to blindly defend Beau (guessing I know who you are) doesn't mean you can ignore facts
It's still 5 more games as the CCG won't exist. And it's still 4 games for the top 8 seeds who are likely to reach a title game.It would mean possibly 5 more games instead of 4 more games.
I remember back in 1994 when PSU was undefeated but denied the national championship. It was an 11 game regular season + a bowl game. Paterno wanted a playoff but those opposed said they were concerned about players missing class time. I always thought the 4 major bowls should be the top 8 teams in the first round of playoffs. 4 teams would play one more game and 2 teams would play two more games. That seemed manageable.
Since then they went from 11 to 12 regular season games and they added a conference championship game. So 11 goes to 13. Now add 5 more games in the playoffs. The maximum number of games would have gone from 12 to 18. Today it's all about the $$$. Academics and excessive wear and tear on young bodies is an afterthought.
This is fair and accurate but Beau had options and the team rule forced him to leave once he entered the portal. We all agree the system is awful but it's a factual statement he didn't have to enter the portal by 12/28 and other programs would have allowed him to play while in the portal.I don't know about team rules but I'm confident that Pribula left when he did because Allar said he was coming back. ... excessive wear and tear on young bodies is an afterthought.
The wear and tear might be something that helps get us to collective bargaining, eventually. They could negotiate some medical needs clauses to cover injuries post graduation for a period of time. It's probably not something many of these 20 year olds think about, but it's something they should ask for.The kids are being paid now. In addition to the education and room and board. The training tables. Doctor access. It's a conscious choice. If you want to play, it's a 365 lifestyle.
If you are concerned with wear and tear, don't play. The real world will gladly take them and apply similar wear and tear with no educational opportunities.

Just like to point out that FCS kids have been dealing with this additional wear and tear and academic stress for a while now and I’ve heard little outcry. It would mean possibly 5 more games instead of 4 more games.
