I'm picking Fowler. Less pressure to win in Scotland, playing with two major winners, so less eyes on him the first 2 days. He's due to break through at some point, and he won The Player's last year, so he can beat the best in the world.

Good lord the scores are low this morning and cool to see the St. X as the early clubhouse leader

WTF is Haydyn Porteous??

Rory and Bubba both go to 5 under on the front and then both of them **** their pants. Good.

On the road today but downloaded The Open app and listening to the British radio broadcast. Love listening to the Brits do golf.

And JB off to a good start.

I'm 46, i want to do a Scotland trip by age 50. Hope it happens, think every serious golfer should try to make the pilgrimage over at some point. I think id enjoy seeing the towns, history, scenery, and pubs as much as the playing golf part.

Any of you guys been on a trip over?

Draino. Incredible...:fire:

Most players would have no chance at hitting that shot. Too bad he's too old to compete.

One of the weirdest lips I've ever seen. Seemed almost center cup, and DYING at the hole, unlike most you can see coming.

Wow.

Phil also lipped out one like that or missed one for a 59 in Phoenix one year. Brutal.

I REALLY want Sergio to get his this year.

Ever since I talked to him for 15 mins or so at the 2004 Memorial Pro-Am, I've always been a fan.

Just logged into the leader board . . . . Phil Mickelson???? Gotta be kidding me.

Saw Bubba make a triple on the postage stamp this AM. He did not seem amused for some reason as he walked to the next tee. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

For all you Masters fans, welcome to the British Open.

I know you're accustomed to turning your TV on now, but us real golf balls have been on this bender for 13 hours.

I always find myself cheering for him too. You've gotta think the guy will win at least 1 at some point. He was right there Sunday at Oakmont last month until he collapsed on the last 4 holes. He's currently -3 after 15 so it looks like he'll be in the mix this weekend. Right now though, it's Lefty's to lose, and I'm always cool Phil winning another major!

Not yet. But I'm like you. It's on my golf buddies list. Hopefully we we will make it. But I've got one in college and one who will be in a couple years so I'm thinking once I get them through college before I can go.

Has Festivus narrowed his list of who can win down to 100 yet?
Straight up picked Danny Willett to win the Masters. Straight up picked Johnson to win the U.S. Open. Posted both. Branden Grace for this major. Probably won't happen but I definitely don't group pick.

He did say Willett on like his 15th post about who could win
[laughing]

Then I don't want to hear any bragging about it. I also don't want to hear anything about Grace either. You can't submit a pick after the event has started and have it count.

Posted it yesterday before event started. Today I would say Reed.

Went on a 10 day Scotland/London trip last summer. Drove around Scotland for 7 days. St Andrews for the Open. Amazing.

Love The Open. Except for the Master's and US Open, the PGA has just turned into way too much driver and wedge, driver and wedge. It's much more fun when players have to think, use different clubs, different shots, etc. For the most part, the greens at most PGA stops are just built to go pin hunting (which can be fun from time to time). I like when there is a much higher risk/reward element.

Used to hate Monty, but that faded over time. I still root strongly again Sergio (touch him) and Westwood (touch him). They are both little bitches. Can't stand Bubba either - he may be the biggest prick on tour. Everything is subject to change - I couldn't stand Fowler when he wore those awful flat-billed caps. Once he dumped that look and the long hair, he was fine.

Ok, going into third round you can bet Phil and Stenson or the field? Who you got?

I'm going field. Would be happy to see either Phil or Stenson win but think it's harder to hold on than come behind given the predicted nasty conditions.

JB Holmes with a nice move to get to -5 so far today. Hope he can keep from blowing up on the back nine like a lot of the guys have done so far today.

Edit- Now -6. Tied for 3rd.

I tell you what I'm impressed with is that they played 18 holes in right at 4 hours. That never happens on the PGA Tour.
