Here we are: the final week of THE Chicago Catholic League prediction thread.
And Gambletron has not let us down - even getting us a line on the Granddaddy of Them All, The Prep Bowl.

Friday, November 23rd

PREP BOWL CHAMPIONSHIP
Taft (Chicago, IL) vs. St. Rita (Chicago, IL) at Gately Stadium (Chicago, IL), 12:00pm [projection: St. Rita (Chicago, IL) 35-14]

Saturday, November 24th

5A CHAMPIONSHIP
Montini Catholic (Lombard, IL) vs. Joliet Catholic Academy (Joliet, IL) at U. of Illinois (Champaign, IL), 10:00am [projection: Joliet Catholic Academy (Joliet, IL) 30-28]


8A CHAMPIONSHIP
Brother Rice (Chicago, IL) vs. Loyola Academy (Wilmette, IL) at U. of Illinois (Champaign, IL), 7:00pm [projection: Brother Rice (Chicago, IL) 21-12]

Montini should be fine I think it's a 7-10 point victory. Both teams are tested.

Rice wins if they can eiliminate the mistakes on offense and special teams . Bean seems to throw a lot of interceptions and throws into coverage and up for grabs a lot. I am thinking the defensive scheme he sees Saturday will be vastly different than last game. If he tucks and runs a lot I think they are fine. throwing into coverage will make for a long day.

Rita will roll only reason it will be close is that every player in uniform will see the field.

Thus concludes my thoughts on the 2019 CCL football season...we had a nice run CCL....now to learn what Notre Dame of Niles is all about.

LA 31 BR 28
BR is the favorite in this game and I expect a stellar performance.
LA is a team with momentum. IF LA wins it is an upset.
Would pick BR if LA was at full strength in the first game. That game is not indicative of how LA is playing now. And I think Bowie50 gave the team a double dose of protein on their training table the week before LWE. If it worked last week why change it?

Montini 35 JCA 27
Montini can score with the best of them. If they move the ball as they have all year they win. For JCA to win they have to play an error free defensive game and take advantage of every offensive opportunity.


SR 35 Taft 21.
Agree with above refref01 that game score wise it will be closer then the play on field with everyone getting snaps for SR.

Thanks to Kuska for not punking out on the Prep Bowl as have several others schools have done in the past. For some reason I think the Prep Bowl will go in stature in the future more like the NIT especially if the IHSA Implements District Football.

Bonus:
Naz over SCN by 7 - Has SCN come down after upsetting MC

Cary over Crete by 7 - just a guess

Bmac over IC by 3 in OT - just to drive a former poster insane!

Byron over Monticello by 7 - Became a Byron fan after they "upset" Herscher High School.

Gibson City vs Maroa & Foreston vs Camp Point - not picking a winners here just want to watch games on tv for the pure pleasure of watching kids play football. They work just as hard as the kids for MS, LWE etc. but without the fanfare.

How many times have you seen them play?

Agree this game is going to be tight but this team has giving up 12 points in 4 playoff games.

31 points, NOT SO FAST!

Too much smoke inhalation leather lungs has effected your brain. Rice's defense has yielded 72 points in 13 games.

You could be right. We will see Saturday. But don't expect 35-3 either. LA is a little different team than then. QB back and defense is play better.
Granted BR has only given up 72 points But LA scored 24 last weekend against a team that has only given up 70. And that was a game they were predicted to get clocked in by the best high school team in the known galaxy. I wouldn't take these predictions personal.

LWE gave LA a lot of points due to turnovers
I’m coming from a place of being happy for CCL
It was painful to watch Henning try and run

BR 24 LA 21 in OT- two weeks ago I would have had BR a two TD favorite. I rate this a toss-up now.

Naz over SCN by 3 . Close game favors SCN. This may be a shootout

Montini over JCA by 7. Two good teams. Montini can put points on the board in a hurry.

SR over Taft by 10
