Last week, Gambletron had a projected accuracy of 82.6%. Simply picking the team with the better record yields an accuracy of 66.4%.
Now, think of that for a moment: you have a device that gives you a yield of nearly 16% better, but you refuse to use it.
That, in a nutshell, is the IHSA playoff structure.

IHSA STATE PLAYOFFS (Quarter-final round)
Sat, 11/10 - Loyola Academy v. Maine South at Maine South - 1:00 pm
[projection: Maine South (Park Ridge, IL) 27-21]

Sat, 11/10 - Montini Catholic v. Evergreen Park at Evergreen Park - 2:00 pm
[projection: Montini Catholic (Lombard, IL) 40-7]

Sat, 11/10 - East St. Louis v. Mount Carmel at Gately Stadium - 5:00 pm
[projection: East St. Louis (IL) 34-31]

Sat, 11/10 - Warren Township v. Brother Rice at Brother Rice - 6:00 pm
[projection: Brother Rice (Chicago, IL) 26-8]

PREP BOWL PLAYOFFS (ROUND 3)
Fri, 11/9 - Hope Academy v. St. Rita at St. Rita - 7:00 pm
[projection: St. Rita (Chicago, IL) 28-21]

Sat, 11/10 - De La Salle v. St. Laurence at St. Laurence - 12:00 pm
[projection: De La Salle (Chicago, IL) 31-27]

Only thing I hear about Warren is their defense is legit so I don’t see BR putting 26 on them, but BR still wins. What is the Warren scouting report?

Loyola over Maine South: Coin flip game here. I just feel that Loyola is on a good roll right now.

Montini over Evergreen Park: This game is just a disaster match-up at this point in the playoffs. Classes 4,5,6 should have been combined into 1 as the competition depth has been atrocious this season. Montini by 1 million

ESL over MC: Another great match-up between these playoff rivals. I just like ESL's top talent depth a little better than MC's. Will MC find themselves an odd play to work in their favor again?

BR over Warren: Warren is a very strong team, but they are going up against a monster in Rice. BR wins comfortably.

PREP BOWL PLAYOFFS (ROUND 3)
SR over Hope: SR wins easily. Hope's season ended last week.

DLS over Larry: DLS and it's not much of a contest

Not huge but very fast - should be a very tight game to the end. Hoping Rice can pull it out at home.

Weather is really going to play a factor, especially with MC and BR night games

Why would Rice play a night game? MC is forced to bc of field availability at Gately.

Swagger by 3 (great game in store here)

Montini by 50 (what a mismatch!)

ESL by 7 (another barn burner; Flyer revenge)

BR by 7 (two tough defenses; 14-7 type game)

Hope by 10 (beware SR; don’t be fooled by this team; still surprised they are out of state tourney)

StL by 10 (great game by 2 teams playing for plenty of pride)

MS/LA going to be a great football game. Maybe not the best teams in 8A but the quality of football will be top shelf. MS because they are at home.

Montini in a rout

I think the travel and weather hampers the Flyer in a game where they could have a bit more talent. I stick with Dave Lenti and his defense here.

On paper Rice should win....in reality their special teams is terrible and they make a lot of mistakes here. If they figure out special teams and run the ball (minimize self inflicted damage with their aerial offense) their defense should win it. Also the coaching needs to be more buttoned up than last week. There were a few instances of confusion especially in the last few seconds of the first half.

De La Salle should win but who knows. I can't get over the MC game and the killer loss to Laurence that cost them a playoff spot. Well here they are again at the same place. I'll go with the Vikings by 10.

I'd respectfully disagree.

Huge up front. By far the biggest line Rice has faced. But what makes them very good is they're extremely physical and same goes for their middle backer.

Offensively RB has above average speed behind a massive front. Defense is definitely the strong side.

This will be an absolute slug fest. But I like rice's ability to throw first and run just enough. Rice will have tough sledding running anything between the tackles.

A lot of similarities between rices D and warrens which makes them so good.

I see a 17-7 type of game.

If turnover battle is even I like Rice.

Going to be an excellent game.

For pizza, there's Rosangela's on 95th and California (a personal favorite) or Baracco's on 95th and Lawndale. For burgers, Wojo's across from Rice is solid as is Pop's (104th and Kedzie) and Pappy's (95th and Sawyer). The Miller's Ale House at Chicago Ridge Mall (95th and Ridgeland) is also good.

Lots of quality places to eat and drink in EP/Oak Lawn. These are just a few. Enjoy.

Just saw where you’re going. Yes, Black Oak. Easy in and out. Take a right out of the lot and head the half mile to Rice.

I can’t see Warren being able to score on the Rice D enough to make this a close game. Warren has a great D but I think Rice has enough big play guys to put up some points. I have Rice by 14+ and even if the score doesn’t indicate it being in control from start to finish.

Have you seen the Warren defense as of yet? Just curious. If not that’s cool. Under the radar is fine by us.
