Three days away from the GW PM game. I myself didn't get to play in the playoffs while at Gw. Got close my senior year. But back when I played GW was in the old NRD. For the ones that don't know or remember that was the New River District. We play the likes of Radford Giles Christiansburg Blacksburg Floyd Narrows Galax ever year. My senior year we finished behind Blacksburg with a 7 and 3 record. Blacksburg was the only team to go because they won the district that year. Enough about me. This time of year in high school football is the best time of the year. I think that all four teams left standing are very capable of winning it all. I love my Maroons and think they will win Friday night. I think PM will kept it close till the half. If GW comes out flat it could be a long night. But I remember the look on the faces of the kids when they came off the field after losing to Galax. All of the team's after Galax didn't stand a chance against GW. But as Blaster said they beat up on each other and 5 of them made the playoffs. Who ever wins this game will have a challenge next week. Riverhead. Will be the best that either has faced and that includes the loss that GW had to Galax. I know that PM can beat GW but if GW is on their game they want beat them I think it will be GW 28 PM 14. The Nelson kid will get yards but he better make sure that his chin strap in on tight because he will be hit ever time he carrying the ball. Now for the other game probably going to pi$$ some people off. But I don't see FC being in this game after half time. Dixon will I repeat Dixon will have the Maroon Tide ready and waiting on FC not going to give score because I see a lot of FC fans on a daily basis and have a few friends with someone playing. I'm hoping that Dixon don't pour it on just to make a point. If FC wins I will be the first to say congratulations. Maroon and Gray for ever

I agree with everything you said but the winner of GW vs PM won't play RH unless AV beats Sussex. If everything goes chalk 1 and 2 winning the winner will got to Sussex.
GW will be the 1st team that PM has seen all year that will have the line and LBs to stuff the holes. We will win this game.
Even if our D falls flat on its *** our O is a weapon. We don't just run or pass we do both at an elite level and that will show. So for PM to win they will have to completely smother any O we have. And hold the ball for 8-9 mins a Q trust me our D is more than enough to stop that.
I can't wait but I must add this. Fort Chiswell, Rockbridge, Auburn, Covington twice, Hurley, and pretty much every team PM played stacked at least 8 in the box. At one point in the Hurley game they had all 11 in the box, Nelson had over 200 yards. Should be interesting to say the least. They have seen every defense there is. To those who think PM can't pass the ball keep thinking that. They haven't had to that's the only reason they havent. I'm just overwhelmed by the thought that most everyone thinks that PM is going to get steamrolled and I can assure you that will not happen. PM pounding ground game wears defenses out, people will see. Also this, there is no way possible that GW line is bigger, more physical than Covington and Hurley. Many over 6'3" 275. Just remember me saying this, speed kills on the defensive line. Not always the biggest man who wins, it's technique and speed. PM 27 GW 20
Yes majority of GW'S linemen are bigger than 6'3 275 that is not a joke they really are. And I agree speed does kill GW is speed ans skill and that's what people have been saying about GW. They are massive, strong, physical!!!! Extremely fast and deep. This is literally GW'S starting O line now remember they aren't just big they are very fast and mean. #50 C 6'4 295, #53 G 6'3 285, #62 G 6'5 250 (smallest), #71 T 6'5 270, #72 6'4 270, TE #81 6'3 280 (when we use a TE). Those are the legitimate sizes of the O line but they aren't bigger than 6'3 275? Now let's look at the D we will do linemen and LBs. Now the D line will be a constant rotation of those monsters and more. The LBs will be #32 MLB 6'1 220, #10 MLB 6' 215, #15 OLB 6' 175, #22 OLB 6' 180 with many more subs and all are beasts who will meet you in the hole. So yes GW will definitely be bigger and more physical than Hurley or Covington. And none of those 8 teams are even close to GW this year. We would hang 40+ on all of them easily. And I get it what GW fans say about our size, depth, speed ect is very hard to believe but I promise you it's true. Hell look at it like this why would any of us lie you will see it Friday. So best of luck Friday may the better team win. But I promise you or anyone else GW is a different beast.

One more thing I want to add when you see those linemen sizes. Please don't think a single one is fat because they aren't. Those kids are thick they live in our very advanced weight room. Yeah some of them might have a little pup that sticks out over the belt but they are nothing even close to fat.
I have looked at GW roster and films many times. I guess the only way to see is to wait and see. PM has different lineups for different opponents, if they choose their jumbo dl they go 6'2" 255..6'1" 265..6'5" 245..6'0" 340. Lbs are 220..215..210. Numbers and stats are always good to compare but it's won on the field. You are very knowledgeable I can tell but so am I on Friday night lights. The way it seems to me is that GW are world killers that just annihilate and destroy opponents (sorry that's the best way I can explain it) full of elite D1 talent. Maybe so but I guarantee PM is no Holston, FC, Chilhowie, or PH that's for sure. When they go small on the dl with the speed package you are looking at an inside rush by three around 215 lbs and fast who get the qb in a hurry. I am sticking to my prediction as I'm sure you will too. PM gets underestimated by so many but when the final horn sounds the Blues are on top just about every time. I am giving you my honest opinion about the 2014 Blues who had Dawson's older brother (lost to eventual state champion AltaVista), this team would beat that team very easily. I guess we will see Friday night. Great articles on here not the usual childish jibberish of the days past. Football has been my life for over 40 years I love it. Whoever loses Friday will be a sad time because both teams are state title caliber teams.

Does Fort still play football in 2016? I had actually forgotten about them...seems in this area if the School doesn't start with a "G," why worry about them? I mean I'm sure Galax is scheming for them, but I highly doubt they are worried. For years Fort has been the angry middle child in Wythe County...that won't change now. PM doesn't have speed they have a couple quick kids but don't confuse that with speed. Fact is pretty much every team makes it this far are playing hurt. P.M. is no exception they were beat on by Covington twice in three weeks. Its just part of the game. If a team makes it into playoffs injury free they have been very lucky.
Coach it wasn't an excuse as I said you all pushed us around and PM is a good football team but speed you don't have...Your D line pushing our O line is what held Justice to 119 yards....You won the line of scrimmage both sides of the ball..Sorry you took as I was downing you because I wasn't...Like I said Nelson is quick not fast and I think GW has to much depth for you all to handle...Good luck though anyways.

Well this thread got a lot more hits and replys than I thought. But all jokes aside I think when all is done the GW Maroons will come out with the win. PM has a good team or they wouldn't be playing Friday night. They have won 11 ball games so has GW. I think this game will be close. But everyone needs to know GW it not Rockbridge or ect and all GW fans needs to know that PM is not Holston NW ect. I think the Nelson kid is special the kids only needs 200 yards to be all time rushing leader in the state of Va. And if you ask me that's pretty darn good. But GW has some pretty good RB their self and all of them will run around thur or over you. Don't know if PM can pass the ball till this point they haven't had to. But they will find out they might have to be able to. Because GW defense is pretty good against the run. GW if they can't get the run started they will hit you with the pass, Beamer has 24 tds thur the air and he runs pretty good to.
