Disclaimer: I’m a KK fan, and always will be, but…

Are we all just going to casually ignore the saga that is Kerr Kriisa? How does a minor foot bone fracture cause a season ending injury, that normally has a turnaround time of 6-10 weeks, and how does said season ending injury just casually go without being mentioned as such by the coaching staff and Pope?

Are injuries in the NIL era going to be more serious than they were before NIL? Asking for a friend.

Maybe he’s a slow healer, maybe he’s had a setback, maybe it was more significant than we initially thought, maybe they collectively decided a full next year at this point is better than ruching back this year. I’m sure the people that need to know have a good plan for exactly what’s going to happen. Would be less of an issue if we had our starting point guard or our replacement for the replacement point guard. **** happens, it truly sucks and I hope we get good news somewhere soon.

Why does this board seem to think every injury is some conspiracy or that a coach is hiding things from fans? It drove me nuts under Cal and it's been driving me nuts this year too.

Guys are hurt and things take time to heal. Injuries like a foot fracture need to be fully healed for a basketball player. Just let it go.

And here we go.....

They can take 6-10 weeks to HEAL. That means for you and me getting back to walking.
He then has to recondition. That's going to take time. And he also has to get used to running, cutting, and putting more stress on it than the average person.

I think far too many people think "Oh 6-10 weeks and he will be back to his old self!" That's not how that works. I'm not an athlete, but I had a Lisfranc Fracture an was non weight bearing for about that time frame. I lost nearly ALL muscle in my calf. During that time frame. It took another few weeks to get that muscle back. If you've never had a major muscle-skeletal injury, you have no idea how much you lose when you can't use that body part.

UT game Wheeler was in a walking boot. We went to the lodge Wheeler pulled up in his car. He wasn’t wearing a boot had no kinda limp at all walking into the lodge. I trust Pope you couldn’t believe half what cal had to say.

I think they are just waiting to see if he gets the extra year, which no offence to krisa I’m good on. I rather go get a stud pg from portal and have jasper/lewis be the backups

This. With KK, Perry, Lewis and I guess JJ as well, no one is coming here from the portal at pg. Idk how I feel about that group.

The news we got off the bat that he'd be back was from Kriisa to Goodman and was BEST CASE scenario with super healers , a normal typical injury of his takes 2-3 months to heal and then for a player even more time to get in playing shape and trust the foot etc.

Kriisa is just now finally taking some shots and barely moving on the court. There is no conspiracy or something else up, he's just no where near ready to play and with march being a little over 2 weeks away, he's just not going to be ready to come back this year.

Is there a certain number of games he can play and still be redshirted like football or if he plays another game is redshirt hopes over with?

KK is a good dude and plays hard, but that group next year needs another butler type or somebody better to be the lead guy. My personal PG want dent from New Mexico.

Broke my big toe in 2016. The break didn’t go side to side, it was top to bottom. They had to operate and place pins in it. Took 12 weeks to heal, and I still have issues with it when it’s cold.

Likely here on a student visa so my guess is he has the goal of playing another year . Still I am in the group who believe that foot fractures are one of the toughest injuries for a basketball player to come back from . Remember the saga with Vanderbilt.

I’m not gonna say he quit on the team, but he wasn’t the level of difference maker for me to care that much.

Kid got back on defense with a f***ing broken foot. His heart’s in the fight. I’m confident he’ll be back as soon he possibly can.

His heart is definitely right. Imo it took long enough to heal they decided to try for another year rather than push him back out there at less than 100% for only a few games.

Mine is Bruce Thornton from OSU
Idk if he will stay loyal to OSU or try to cash in for his last season of college ball.
Good college PG who's perfect for the SEC but he's never going to be a draft pick

First how do we know it was minor, there is nothing simple about the ankle/foot the human foot has 26 bones.

I know Kerr is a really good cheerleader and is better than he showed in his few games with UK, but what about the non-con indicated he could be a championship level player? He got picked on more than anybody defensively and now he's coming off of a bad injury. Need to find a legit 2 way point guard and have Acaden and TP back up.

If Kriisa comes back it really limits our ceiling unless he's fine just being an 11th / 12th man which I can't imagine he would be. Also are we even sure he'd qualify for medical redshirt?

Whether that's the case with Kerr or not, this is the reason the NCAA 5 years to play with no possibility of additional years is a good idea. Otherwise there is an incentive, whether players take advantage of it or not, to start a year healthy (for the NIL contract) and then miss enough time to get a redshirt year and get an extra year of NIL payments.

A broken foot bone for an athlete isn't a minor deal. Besides the pain part a guy would be putting a Lotta heavy duty stress on that repaired bone. I don't doubt thus guys fire or toughness. He is just too hurt to play.

I’m going to lay a lot of the conspiracy (maybe just curiosity) over some of the litany of injuries we have seen at Kentucky over the past few years. I’m one of those guys that think a couple of those were just ‘I’m done here bring on the draft’ and some advice from friends, families, hangers on and the like. It kinda hangs on. In Kerr you have a guy that really hadn’t proved much this year.
