Totally embarrassed the University. If another university employee had sent that out they would probably be fired. It is becoming national news and will only build. You can say so what but publicity like this is unacceptable. WVU won the game. Why do so many continue to trash MD and now start crapping on UK? Our reputation as having no class may be deserved.

I don't feel embarrassed.
I'm sure the University doesn't either.
It will blow over. These things always do.

The girls should feel embarrassed. But based on their reaction to the attention, it doesn't appear they are.
Neither speak for WVU.

Agreed. There is no way this should reflect on how anyone feels about WVU or their fans. Society is filled with people doing stupid things, not just at WVU. If you let this embarrass you, that is on you.

Agree with every point you've made. And while neither speaks for WVU, one is an employee so it falls on WVU more than if it was just a random fan.

Having a father that's in the public eye, you'd think they would know better.

Two immature young women do not speak for a large and diverse population like WVU students and alumni. Please show me a single WVU fan who has condoned what they yelled and tweeted. The WVU fan response is generally two-fold: 1) they were being stupid, and 2) WVU fans hear the same crap from UMD fans in College Park. The second is not an excuse for the first, and adults know this.

Should the entire UMD system be judged by a few Terp football players not shaking the hands of the PSU captains before the game? C'mon man. Go back to Testudo Times and do whatever you need to do in order to make this loss easier. Just don't pull this "we should be embarrassed" crap here.

I agree with you but....Unfortunately it does reflect on you through public opinion. However, threads like this gets the word out that it is not generally accepted by your fan base and so gives all of us outside of WV a better idea where you all stand.

If this is the worst thing these two young ladies do, they are going to be awfully great women. Don't appreciate any of the garbage being thrown at the end of the season, but it seems to be what is acceptable in life. Move on.

Why would anyone feel embarrassed about these tweets. And how in the world could you justify firing anyone over tweets referencing the allegations that had been reported in the news for years. Another drama queen poster. Any time any player or coach is involved in a scandal they open themselves and the University up to criticism from anyone and everyone. The real scandal here is the player's previous actions and not what someone associated with WVU expresses about those actions. References to Class or lack of on an anonymous message board is such a waste of space and time.

WVU is bigger than one employee but the institution is responsible for all of them and just like in any other business the employer is ultimately accountable for the conduct of their employees. Their conduct shouldn't be a reflection of the university but how the university responds surely is.

The truth is that if her last name wasn't Huggins she wouldn't have the job she has and if she did her job would be gone tomorrow.

The real scandal here is the player's previous actions and not what someone associated with WVU expresses about those actions.

Her attacks were focused on sexual assault accusations Wells was faced with, and expelled for, in 2012 while at Xavier -- charges that ended up being dropped and an expulsion that won Wells a settlement against the school last year.

Wells won an undisclosed financial settlement from Xavier last year for an expulsion that the local Ohio prosecutor, Joseph T. Deters, said was based on false allegations stemming from a 'truth or dare' game gone awry.

"I am also very sensitive of people being accused of things where it doesn't even reach anything close to a standard of proof that we would even think of accepting," Deters told the Baltimore Sun in 2012. "I think Maryland's getting a good kid, I really do."

There's no question the Wells rape accusation was a big story here in Cincinnati.

The prosecutor listed in this quote (Joe Deters) is a conservative, law-and-order guy.....though not a nut case......so, if there was any case here, you can bet your arse he'd have prosecuted it. Not that it matters, my own problem with Wells has always been much more about his personal role....and that of his thug (and I use that word emotionally, descriptively, and I think accurately) buddy, Tu Holloway..... in the on-floor (and its aftermath) Xavier-Cincinnati near-riot back in 2011.

Perhaps the kid has straightened up since he left XU; much like I think most of us want to think of someone like Holton (who, I don't believe, was previously arrested/accused of anything like rape).

No I couldn't, because if I did I'd be missing yet another chance of slow-walking you through what real life is...

But you're welcome to counter my argument, although we both know you aren't bright enough, huh dopey?

I think your mistaking your stupidity for 'truth' is not only hilarious, it's very telling.
Understanding that one tweet doesn't represent an entire University seems to be a concept you can't grasp.

She apologized for the comment.

No one is fired. No one should be. No question she was wrong.

It's idiots that blow things out of proportion instead of taking a logical well thought out approach to these situations that make them BIGGER issues then they actually are.

Guess where you fall in that sentence?

You started your post with the exact same six words.

What argument is there to counter. You agreed with me, then said a bunch of useless crap....which is pretty much a standard post for you.

When someone is fired over it, you can admit you're right.

Until then, feel free to continue to STFU.

Seems to be over. Her twitter account was deleted (which I bet the University had her do).

Last night on Twitter I made a mistake in saying what I did about Dez Wells.

- Jenna Leigh Huggins (@JennaLeigh44) March 23, 2015

I want to apologize to Dez Wells, the UM team, the University, it's fans, and the Jewish community for my remarks.

- Jenna Leigh Huggins (@JennaLeigh44) March 23, 2015

It was an exciting game between two great teams and emotions were out of line. I was wrong to say those things and I am sorry.

- Jenna Leigh Huggins (@JennaLeigh44) March 23, 2015

I also want to apologize to WVU. Mountaineers are better than that, and I have learned a valuable lesson.

LOL - You're so simple. What's it like being a person who no one will ever expect anything from?

Your comment was, "WVU is bigger than one employee", which goes without saying (and didn't need to be said). You can call my other comments useless crap but it won't change the fact that I'm right. You're just in a hurry to sweep the situation under the rug and trying to talk down others who feel like discussing it.

I haven't made any predictions, so I won't need to wait for anything to happen to proclaim I'm right.

An employee who doesn't "speak for the university" is apologizing to the university for the words she spoke...

I'm trying to find ONE incident of a WVU employee fired over a tweet.

There doesn't seem to be any. Yet, some numbnuts here are ready to fire someone over a tweet.

I'm glad cooler, smarter and less ignorant heads have prevailed in this situation.

Thus proving she wasn't speaking FOR the University in the first place. You really are stupid. I thought maybe it was an act, but I think you actually are this dumb.

You are wrong about her being fired if her name wasn't Huggins. You are wrong about that being a "fact".

It's hilarious you agreed with me but still continue to argue just because you are a dick.

Being wrong AND a dick is no way to go through life.

Let's analyze this without kneejerking

1. Rape is horrendous.

2. The Xavier player was not found guilty or innocent.

3. There are a lot of jerks among sports fans, particularly where alcohol and/or youth are involved.

4. People are stupid till they're at least 30. Some go longer or rever out-grow stupid. I am a prime example of the under-30 stupidity, and I sure as hell wasn't alone.

5. You expect parents to control what their children do away from home when they're teenagers? Good luck with that.

6. WVU played a hell of a game. So did Maryland till its No. 1 ball-handler got kicked in the head by a teammate. That's to be admired for both teams.

7. WVU has to get geared up for Kentucky, whose players have formed an NBA farm team for a one-and-done national title. An upset for the Wildcats by the Mountaineers would be one for the ages, and you can bet that stupidity would be rampant among WVU fans.

There's no separation between the parties. That's what you don't get. She was representing the university when she said what she said, that's why she's in trouble with the university.

There is absolutely separation.
Several degrees. But I never argued she wasn't a representative of WVU.

She wasn't on a WVU account when she tweeted. That's the MAJOR separation.

She won't be fired. And even if she wasn't Huggs daughter she wouldn't be fired despite your 'truthful' opinion.

She's apologized (not through the UNIVERSITY, but her personal twitter account (another separation).

People like you who fly off the handle cause more trouble with your 'witch burning' then the actual witches because the damage you do with your knee jerk reaction could ruin a career.

"The truth is that if her last name wasn't Huggins she wouldn't have the job she has and if she did her job would be gone tomorrow."[/I]

You actually believe this. That's a level of ignorance that is rare.

When a WVU representative makes public comments during a WVU event about a WVU opponent, like it or not - that's speaking for the university. That's why, as you said, WVU most likely had her delete the Twitter account and she's apologizing to multiple parties (Jews, WVU, UMD, ect.).

If you're arguing that because these comments weren't made on official WVU communications it somehow negates the liability, well then, it seems like your pushing a red herring of sorts.

Nonsense. She not a coach or a star player or spokesperson. She is a lowly program assistant and the only reason this is getting any play at all is because she is Huggins' daughter. It is not surprising that our resident Pitt Troll is here lecturing us again about some mundane event after Pitt crashed and burned (not making the Tournament this year and losing the 1st game in the NIT). Isn't it about time for one of your 50 posting rants about how you want to use our anonymous message board to improve education and our tabloid rankings.

Odds that Narduzzi is gone within 2 years - 50/50. Sooner if he has a baby momma like Pitt's head coach Haywood who lasted only 2-1/2 weeks.
