Davis was an Assistant on the UNC bench from 2012 until he got the job in 2021.

Scheyer was an Assistant on the Duke bench from 2014 until he got the job in 2022.

Payne was in the NBA.
Prior to that, he was elsewhere.

He'd already be HC had he come here after leaving Oregon.

Not sure if he had the opportunity to come here back then. Regardless, he’s here now. Given some time, KP will be very successful at UL. 1st class man. I wish him the best.

Also the inability to bring in players due to sanctions. Not near the same situation as the other 2 coaches. Coaches win at new schools all the time without having previously being an assistant there. Pain nor anyone else was gonna win at UL this year.

Winning begins with preparation and effort - both of which are in shockingly low supply with this group of coaches and players. There’s no way that you could convince me that this **** show was a forgone conclusion or, that any number of other coaches couldn’t have more success.

Scotty Davenport would at least have a system and had the players playing hard and if you gave this group to Pitino - he would have a decent shot at getting them in the tournament.
