No comment on the Eagles. I could take them or leave them. Dated an evil fan back then. I was, and still am, an Allman Brothers/Pink Floyd kind of guy. Yeah big difference. I will say that I'd go just to see Steely Dan. Love those guys. Jazz infusion.

I like their music but not huge fan. Now my wife is the Mega Fan and that why we got the tickets for the concert. With you on Pink Floyd and Allman Brothers as music I enjoy much more than the Eagles. I am a Steely Dan fan and excited to see them perform.

It's not so much their "music"

They're a perfectly fine JD Souther, Jackson Browne cover band.

My main problem with them is, well, "THEM"
Insufferable pricks, that take themselves way too seriously. Even by entertainment industry standards...

Just LOOKING at Don Henley's pained expressions, as he slogs his way through even the simplest of drum beats/fills makes me want to vomit.

I am also in the take them or leave them category but my wife wants to go see them so I may try to get tickets. I did see they plan to do like Garth Brooks did a few years ago and add multiple shows in each city as demand dictates. I was never a fan of Hotel California but my favorite song they do is probably Seven Bridges Rd.

Anyone ever watch that mockumentary show called documentary now? Okay well here's the 2 part episode mocking the eagles

I’d buy a Blue Jean Committee album before I listened to Don effin Henley.

The parody they did of The Talking Heads is hilarious too. Coming from a huge fan who ranks “Stop Making Sense” as an all time live show.

"During the three years of intensity and insanity that were the making of The Long Run, Don Henley composed a long memo to the recording studio manager informing him of his displeasure that the lavatory paper in the toilets came off the bottom of the dispenser and not the top. ‘If it was meant to come from the bottom,’ the memo ran, ‘then the little flowers would be printed on the underside of the paper’. "

For fvcks sake, what a douche nozzle...

(Not to mention the fact that it took THREE years to wrap that trash out POS album...)

This is an interesting thread in that most people either love the Eagles or hate them. Not much middle ground. Same with Rush. What other bands or solo artists can you think of that are like that?

Should be big show, of course, but I never got into The Eagles ... really love Steely Dan, however.
By far, my favorite Eagles' song is SEVEN BRIDGES ROAD, which is live and a cover.
Favorite SD song is a much tougher choice, but it's ANY MAJOR DUDE WILL TELL YOU.

In the City is one of my favorite songs. From the Warriors movie. They played it in a Subway yesterday when I was on line and I was pretty happy. Nice harmonizing.

Dave Matthews Band.

Coldplay.
I was a member of the VIP Club at Riverbend with a friend from work and we went to many, many shows.
I remember when DMB came to play. It sold out in minutes and tickets were at a ridiculous premium. Riverbend called me several times wanting to know if we wanted to sell our tickets for a profit that would easily cover our membership fee for the entire concert season. We tried to always see everybody once, knew DMB was popular and decided to go. That show was a major disappointment from the earliest moment it began for the both of us and we quickly regretted not selling our tickets.

I've been to many, many shows over the years and that show, along with seeing Jackson Browne solo-acoustic at the Taft Theatre, easily rank as the two worst shows I've ever been to. I know they are very popular, but I just could NOT get into the Dave Matthews Band ... at all.

Understand but that was actually just Joe Walsh & before he joined the Eagles. They do incorporate that song in their show though during the Joe Walsh ‘segment’.

Btw the gang leader of the group that killed Cyrus was the snitch in the remake of The Longest Yard.

I've got tickets for Stevie Nicks and Billy Joel next month in Columbus. It's a chance to see them and go see the Horseshoe at once. We were wondering who the headliner would be.

As solo artists definitely Billy. If it were Fleetwood Mac then probably them. But for this tour they will probably alternate going first and second like Billy and Elton did.

Did anyone get on Ticketmaster this morning and get tickets at Rupp? Was wondering what the prices were ranging from?

Thanks

Dave Matthews Band.

Coldplay.

Agree. I hate them both, but have several friends who are super fans of both.

DMB = frat boy “rock”

Coldplay = responsible for the complete and total neutering of rock music in the early 2000s

I call the Eagles 70s Nickelback. Huge mainstream success, devoted loyal following, so many better bands out there. Don Henley is an insufferable douche canoe and his solo song The End of Innocence was absolute tripe that got way too much MTV airplay back in the day.

My wife loves the Eagles and my opinion of them has caused arguments in the past, so I just keep it to myself.

I have little interest in seeing the Eagles without Glenn Frey. The same way I have little interest in seeing Steely Dan without Walter Becker (although he didn't contribute that much from a live perspective). From a marketing perspective it is the name that matters. For example, how many people would go to see Donald Fagen solo, even though he would perform the same setlist as "Steely Dan"?

Actually, there isn't. And comparing them to NB pretty much shows your ignorance on the subject.

Considering music is purely subjective and a matter of listener opinion, there’s no way to quantify that I’m incorrect.

I can probably name 30 bands I think are much better than the Eagles, and you seem like a super fan so you’d probably disagree with all 30, and that’s fine. I should also note that soft rock isn’t my cup of tea, but if you like it, keep listening.

I would have liked to have seen the Eagles back in their heyday. Saw several of the Laurel Canyon crowd back then -- Ronstadt, Browne, CSN&Y. But I'm not sure the Eagles without Frey or, for that matter, Steely Dan without Becker is a strong contender for a big-ticket concert.

I will say this about Henley. Love him or hate him, he completely SAVED the song “leather and lace” from being a complete bag of hot liquid garbage with Stevie Nicks and her Billygoat vocal style.

I’ll die of Covid on that hill

Don Henley, like the Clown said, is the most insufferable prick in the Industry. I have a friend in Kentucky who plays songs on his guitar and post them on Youtube. Just a hobby for him as he is a mailman in everyday life. He posted a couple Eagle covers and youtube immediately took them down. He didn't know why, but I read somewhere that Henley is responsible for getting Eagle covers removed

Hey Rogue OT. Did I read correctly you decided to live in Pinellas Co for the time being? Hopefully you’re not too far south in St Pete. Beachside or Howard Frankland side?

Lying Eyes is a great song. So is Peaceful Easy Feeling. Tequila Sunrise is tolerable. Hotel California is overplayed. Desperado is good I guess. I like some of Don Henley’s solo stuff… End of the Innocence and Boys of Summer. Not sure if I’d want to pay more than $30 to see that live though.

I saw an Eagles tribute band once. Sounded just like the recordings. It was free. Seems close enough.

I saw SD in Vegas about 10 years ago. Crowd was old balls.
