Have caused this to be in a lot of places.

Especially on gravel. If you see it, remain calm. It is not your septic failing. It is not the blob. It is not a UFO or Alien. It is not the gubmit spying on you. It is not Bigfoot droppings. It is a cyanobacterium that loves the fact that we are getting daily severe thunderstorms.

I have seen it cover 1000 square feet or more in places. Typically, 100 is more common.

I was always confused because I have heard people call it nostoc and thought they were saying "no stock" because folks never use the actual name. I also thought it was just a fungus.

I can remember seeing it all over gravel following a summer rain and then it would nearly disappear after the ground dried.

Saw a bunch last week on the gravel down by my lake. Had no clue what it was. Looked nasty. It seems to have disappeared now
