I hope you're right but don't expect to live to see it (Hint: I expect I have another 10-15 years.). As far as the typical 8 wins, 10 maybe statement, we haven't achieved the 8 wins average under Stoops even throwing out his first two seasons & the 10 wins max is right so far. I don't see what will change from that under Stoops in the future. I don't know what data, not judgment, you can share that shows our FB fans are any worse than average nor how many wins a more mature attitude will produce. As far as history, I don't believe anything before 2013 is relevant to today, particularly the 2022/23 seasons. I ponied up $250/400 per seat, two seats, for 15 years or so.
All this negativity toward Stoops on the board right now is somewhat amazing. Can you imagine this board if we had lost yesterday?
A&M thinks they’re Georgia or Bama. Their trophy case begs to differ. Plus they have a weirdo cultish environment. Who gives a **** what they think?
Not sure but I read we only ran 47 plays yesterday. That is wild. Now we had a KO return for TD and a couple of UL fumbles that set up short fields for us but if you had told me before the game that UL ran like 77 plays and we only got 47 I would've said we lose by 20 because that sounds like the D couldn't get off the field, which was a big problem this year.
They also don't play in the SEC. Not really a good example.
Won't win me back. He's to set in his ways. College football has changed, but he hasnt. I just don't see any changes he does that will push us to the next level. He'd have to 100% stay away from the offense for that to possibly happen and you know it won't. You don't attract enough quality offensive players with so few plays ran.
Regardless of what anyone says, you can see him having a say in how the offense performs. Not a single OC has ran their offense here like they did before coming here (not sure on Coen since I don't watch the NFL). That's on Stoops. He wants to win with defense and only wants the offense out there burning clock to keep his defense fresher.
Offense is what wins big in college now. Just ask Saban and Smart. They have teams that have the capability of putting up points on anybody. That doesn't mean they always will, but they can do it. We can't put big points on anyone that is a high level team. Louisville is not a high level team. Not yet at least.
If you don't have the ability to put up like 40 points against pretty much everyone you play, your chances of getting to the playoffs or winning the SEC are nil. That's where we are with Stoops. Play so conservative that you can win 6 or 7 regular season games most years and expect us to just be happy with it.
I always get tired of people saying "who are you going to get or name some coaches that can win big here." It's not our job to do that. As you said, we don't get paid to do that. So no matter who we say it won't have any influence on who we get as our coaches. There needs to be a committee that does the hiring. We can't have one guy screwing it up like with the Joker, Gillispie, Elzy hires.
Joker was a crapshoot with barely even any coordinator experience. Gillispie was only hired because he was the hot new name and just beat UL in the tournament. Barnhart did no real work on his background or he would have likely seen his issues away from the court. Now the women's basketball team has fallen to the bottom with their hire.
Like I said, we need a committee to make the choice. Bring in some past players and coaches. Have them look at the landscape of college football and what the better teams are doing. Look at who will put butts in seats. Find someone who refuses to believe they can't win a championship here. Then throw out the big bucks and try and hire them. If we're paying Stoops $9 million for these reults, I'm sure the right guy could get $10+ if worth it.

They're trying to hire Duke's WEIRD *** barely winning record in the ACC coach. That makes the whole A&M booster story look COMPLETELY made up.

Petrino lied about the Auburn thing. Stoops has been upfront about A&M. He didn’t lie to Mitch. If you can’t see RP winning after he was gone I don’t know what to tell you. Just because someone looks at another job doesn’t mean all is lost. You make a lot of big jumps.
One thing is certain, starting next season the SEC is going to be a lot tougher. UK will visit Texas and I fully expect a complete stomping similar to what Alabama and Georgia gave us this year. Oh yeah, we also play Georgia again in Lexington next year and @Tennessee and @Ole Miss. Anyone think a Stoops coached team is going to win any of those games? Anyone think we will even be competitive? THAT is the problem. For $9 million we should at least keep the score respectable (10-14 points). We haven't done that.

I think the point is they CAN do better. They have the largest public school endowment in the country. They are in a state that produces as much high end talent as any in the country.
7th or 8th highest paid coach in the country? 9 mil a year? Theoretically that's what UK can pay. Make it make sense.
But they can't. All of their history shows it. Their only national title was 1939...11 yrs before ours.

I posed the question all weekend with only one attempted answer: give me a name of a proven commodity that we can hire. You can't because there isn't one. Anyone we can actually get will be a roll of the dice. It's ludicrous to fire a coach winning 6-8 games a season at UK (with 10 wins twice in the last few years) unless you can hire someone that can do better.
Stoops wasn't proven either. Jon Sumrall is 21-4. And nobody, at least not me, said anything about firing.
They had the best class this past year and Jimbo did nothing with it. If A&M could have done it they would have done it by now. They're a perpetual 8 win program. Nothing more.

It's not just some on here. Over the last couple of days I keep hearing the same cop out from the KY sports media and talking heads. The "build Stoops a statue" crowd are chugging forward as though nothing happened. They're almost celebrating a mediocre coach flirting with another program and returning with his tail between his legs. It's pretty pathetic really.
