A lot of you will probably hate me for saying this but I'm boycotting the football game this weekend. Not for anything the football team did, but as a protest against interim President Greg Postel. I think a lot of us should consider doing this as well.
I sent an e-mail to the President's office today stating that I will not donate any money to UofL athletically or academically (not a lot but about $2,000 a year), attend any UofL sporting events or buy any UofL merchandise until interim President Greg Postel has been removed.
He was definitely in the right to fire Pitino, but he has made a horrible mistake firing Jurich. And if we're being honest, if his opinion is that it goes up back to the top then he should fire himself. This happened under Postel's watch, and if Jurich can't use the "I didn't know" defense then Postel should not be allowed to use that defense either. This all falls on Postel.
In his brief time as interim President I have been very unimpressed with Postel. He has not shown leadership nor the ability to become the full time President. And to be honest I have no faith in his ability to do a good talent search for our new AD and new men's basketball coach. I think most of us agree that Postel should have no say in who the new AD or men's basketball coach should be. Temporary AD and temporary men's basketball coach, fine, but not permanent.
It's hard for me to boycott my Alma Mater but sometimes you have to give tough love. That's how I look at this situation. Just like many of us boycotted football games until Kragthorpe was gone, I will not support the University of Louisville until Postel is gone and I encourage many of you to do the same. Send the message that Postel needs to go.
