The good, the bad & the ugly

I’m always happy to get the W, but there was more slop than I saw in my Monongah childhood when my Polish grandfather slopped the hogs.

Culver’s 8-15 on field goals and 19 points, 14 rebounds and only 2 personals offset his 3 for 9 free throw shooting. Thank goodness Culver knew how to shoot better than 50% from the floor!

When WVU penetrates passing inside the arc, good things happen. Too many imprecise and tentative passes were intercepted, though. Won’t beat Kansas or Baylor that way.

Culver was he only one in double figures, but 9 other WVU players scored, so that’s encouraging.

However, not counting Culver, WVU was 13 for 35 in field goal shooting. Huggins stressed that as a problem before the game. Still a problem, obviously. You can't just throw the ball toward the backboard and pray. Line it up as if you're deer hunting and fire away!

Oscar had only 8 rebounds and ONE field goal. He’s better than that. Or he better be when Kansas comes to Morgantown February 12 and WVU goes to Baylor February 15.

Kansas and Baylor in a 4-day span will be a good test of WVU’s March Madness possibilities. And whether they can get back to their January Pitbull Defense and rebounding when Huggins Heroes took down 3 Big 12 opponents by an average margin of 31 points.

WVU 66, Kansas State 57. As I said, I’ll take it. But Huggins and I are not pleased with so much of what we saw against Kansas State.

Glad to see that Knapper is back in action. 5 points. It’s a start after such a long layoff.

Next: Iowa State at 7 pm Wednesday, again in WVU Coliseum, followed by a Saturday, February 8 visit to Oklahoma, 2 pm, ESPNU.

Time to crank it up, guys!

I was watching the game and it felt like we didn’t have a lot of energy and the crowd seemed dead very quiet compared to other games

Oscar is better than that. Unfortunately for him he chose here and now instead of kentucky or Kansas now. But mcbride gets his 27 uncontested minutes a night so whatever, he "leads" this team

LOLZ. idiot. You failed to mention he also led the team in assists. Why’d you pass up that stat?

Because leading a team in assists at barely TWO assists per game is NOT something to feel good about.

That says something very bad about the team as a whole.

Oh i agree with that part. But to keep calling out Deuce is just beyond me. He uses the stats selectively to support his bashing of a 19 yr old kid. It isn't like this kid is a senior, he's gonna make mistakes and it's up to the coaching staff to help him overcome those and grow from them. No need to bash in my opinion. Just sayin....
