8 tackles, 3 INT, 1 FR. Caught more passes last night than Ga South's entire team.

you guys are silly & sensitive & a couple other things. & thanks for the personal shot, fprio.

it's a message board. get over the holier than thou stuff. no one made you click on my posting.

I give Joseph props for a good game. if you don't like it, tough.

there's guys on here complaining how dead this board is, then when something is posted - for fun & to shout out his great game - it's attacked & I'm an idiot.

Don't look past it then. Really. Do something about it. Take it up with the site's owners and/or ignore me if you feel I'm racist or my comments are racist. That's a fairly sharp accusation and your capitalizing the word NO shows you are HIGHLY upset by this.

It's kind of a shame you've twisted around the point of my post, misunderstood it and are trying to make this something it's not. You know, my two best friends are both Haitian & would find your assumptive judgements to be uninformed & foolish.

The comment isn't racist at all. By your standard, referring to Maciej Bender as a Polish anything would be racist too. Maybe you can warn people ahead of time to only refer to him by government name in the event he commits to WV. & whew, I guess we shouldn't discuss Deniz Klicli, of Turkish descent, either. I hope for your sake you weren't subjected to the fans in the Coliseum who waved Turkish flags, chanted for him & called him the Istanbul.

Really, if I recall, I think it was the TV guys Saturday night who brought up Joseph's Haitian background & coined the nickname for fun. Out of respect for his football skills and heritage. They are accurate adjectives. Not as a show of disrespect or racism, as you claim. Perhaps you can call Fox or Root Sports & see if they'll listen to your complaint as well. Don't let it go. Turn it into a huge deal.

It was the TV guys that used the phrase during the game, your memory is correct.....I, too, fail to see how referring to a man by his country of birth is racist as well...thats also a little bit hypocritical, FPRIO, considering you use the dead former leader of N. Korea in his underwear as your signature....just sayin'

Karl has been here 3 1/2 years and not many (I did however) knew of his family being from Haiti. Now all of the sudden you, as a so called Mountaineer fan, are going to use that term when he hasn't referred to this in public since arriving in Morgantown (not like he got hear this spring). Many of us have diverse racial backgrounds, but don't want to carry a moniker. Such is the case with KJ. How about just stick with what HE wants to be known as..... Karl Joseph.

Thank you,
Frank

(Another) Such a long reply tells me you're second guessing yourself.

Unless you're posting between KKK meetings maybe you shouldn't be so defensive.

But you had a racist comment. Should we just look past that? NO....

Regardless, it's not racist. It's a term they bantered about on the television broadcast as well. So whatever.

Haitian Sensation isn't particularly lyrical, but it's certainly not racist.
It does rhyme. You have to give him that. But since I went down the tubes with Hurricane Dustin, which blew away as the years passed, I guess I'm not qualified to quibble over someone else trying to come up with a clever nickname, which seems to be the rage in sports these days.

FYI I just so happen to be of Haitian descent.

No disrespect to your french slave runner heritage, but as probably the only black user on this board, I feel comfortable arbitrating here....unless KJ is not of Haitian decent, the OP's term was not a bit offensive

So it's OK if I call Karl Joseph the Hammering Haitian?
Because he certainly is doing a fantastic job of ringing opposing ballcarriers' bells.
They are all Mountaineers when they put on that uniform, but sportswriters (I was one for 13 years) and even fellow players can't resist giving nicknames to athletes.
It's the rage of the 21st century.
If Karl keeps going the way he did against Georgia Southern I don't care what they call him, as long as Gibson calls his number for the defensive players.

....and I'm not even including the MNF use of 'little monkey'.
Imo, TV has and will continue to use race if it helps the bottom line, but Cosell's 'little' comment didn't intend any racial undertones or overtones. To butcher an old phrase: Sometimes racism is in the ear of the beholden.

Right....not intentionally. I did write that I 'wasn't' including that incident. Still, it might be the perfect example for this thread.

A known Korean unicorn collector claiming to be Haitian? I can now honestly state that I have seen everything on this board.

A few questions to clarify things, is Low Milk, Low Fat Milk in this odd family tree, or are they siblings? And where does Orlaco fit in? That's what the Mountaineer Nation really wants to know, late Great Leader.
